Ellen Tarry
Ellen Tarry (September 26, 1906 – September 23, 2008) was an African-American journalist and author who served as a minor figure in the Harlem Renaissance. Her ''Janie Belle'' (1940) was the first African-American picture book, and her other works include further literature for children and young adults as well as an autobiography. Biography Tarry was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Although raised in the Congregational Church, she converted to Catholicism in 1922, after years of attending the St Francis de Sales school for girls on the former Belmead plantation property in Virginia. She was taught there by the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. She thereafter attended Alabama State Normal School, now Alabama State University, and became a teacher in Birmingham. At the same time, she began writing a column for the local African-American newspaper entitled "Negroes of Note", focusing on racial injustice and racial pride. Born in Villefranche de Rouergue, Aveyron, he studied mathematics at high school before joining the civil service in Algeria. He pursued mathematics as an amateur. Samuel Peter Tarry (; born 27 August 1982) is a British politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ilford South since 2019. He is a member of the Socialist Campaign Group parliamentary caucus. On 11 October 2022 he was deselected by the Ilford South Constituency Labour Party as its candidate for the next election. He remains a member of the Labour Party. Early life Tarry was born in August 1982 in Westminster. The eldest son of The Revd Canon Gordon Tarry, a Church of England clergyman, he grew up on St. Andrews Road and attended Highlands Primary School in Ilford. In mathematics, the Prouhet–Tarry–Escott problem asks for two disjoint multisets ''A'' and ''B'' of ''n'' integers each, whose first ''k'' power sum symmetric polynomials are all equal. That is, the two multisets should satisfy the equations :\sum_ a^i = \sum_ b^i for each integer ''i'' from 1 to a given ''k''. It has been shown that ''n'' must be strictly greater than ''k''. ''Tarry Flynn'' is a novel by Irish poet and novelist Patrick Kavanagh, set in 1930s rural Ireland. The book is based on Kavanagh's experience as a young farmer in Monaghan. The novel however is set in Cavan. The story is based on the life of a young farmer poet and his quest for big fields, young women and the meaning of life.
