Tape Art
Tape art is an artwork created with adhesive tape such as duct tape or packing tape. It developed from urban art in the 1960s, as an alternative to the widely spread use of spray cans in the urban art scene. Tape can be used to produce a "stained glass" effect when applied to glass or plastic which is lit from behind. It can be attached to a wall to form the outline or an image, or can be shaped into three-dimensional sculptures such as Mark Jenkins (artist) who uses clear packing tape to create sculptural street installations. Tape artists such as Max Zorn show their work at art fairs including Art Basel Miami. Characteristics Tape art can be installed quickly and almost silently, making it suitable for small or temporary urban art projects. No masking or covering is necessary. Masking Tape
Masking tape, also known as painter's tape, is a type of pressure-sensitive tape made of a thin and easy-to-tear paper, and an easily released pressure-sensitive adhesive. It is available in a variety of widths. It is used mainly in painting, to mask off areas that should not be painted. The adhesive is the key element to its usefulness, as it allows the tape to be easily removed without leaving residue or damaging the surface to which it is applied. The tape is available in several strengths, rated on a 1–100 scale based on the strength of the adhesive. Most painting operations will require a tape in the 50 range. Achim Zeman
Achim Zeman (born 1961 in Stuttgart) is a German painter and installation artist. He is a representative of Op-Art and is based on the rules of Concrete Art. Biography Zeman studied at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1983 to 1989 and was awarded "Master scholar" (Meisterschüler) by Professor Kuno Gonschior. Inspired by him, Zeman discovered the artistic configuration of rooms with the means of painting as an area of his artistic work. In 1990 he received a scholarship from the "Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg", in the following year a working scholarship from the City state of Berlin. Zeman is a member of the "Westdeutscher Künstlerbund". Since 1992 he lives and works in Cologne, Germany. Mark Khaisman
Mark Khaisman ( uk, Марк Хайсман, born 1958, Kiev, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian-born visual artist who currently lives and works in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, having relocated to the United States in 1989. He creates his works by applying layers of translucent packaging tape on clear, backlit Plexiglas panels in order to create areas of light and shadow that, viewed as a whole, compose images of recognizable persons or objects. Khaisman's subject matter has come from various sources, including art history, old movies, 20th century propaganda art, and his own photographs. Khaisman was a practicing architect for two decades, working in the areas of architecture, animation, and stained glass design, before he began to exhibit his tape works in 2005. Slava Ostap
Slava "Ostap" Osinski is a street artist who creates works on acrylic glass using packing tape or duct tape and duct tape. He also produces work in live performances and also creates installation art works. Ostap was born and raised in Dnipropetrowsk in Ukraine, where he studied architecture. In 1995 he moved to Germany and he later moved to Berlin. Ostap has been active in Berlin's street art and urban art scene since 2013. Career Ostap was a resident artist at the Urban Spree gallery in Berlin in December 2012.
