Tagesthemen
''Tagesthemen'' is one of Germany's main daily television news magazines, presented by journalists Caren Miosga and Ingo Zamperoni. Second only to the 20:00 '' Tagesschau'' ("Review of the Day") ''Tagesthemen'' ("Issues of the Day") is ARD's most important newscast. It is different in style and content from ''Tagesschau'' and is broadcast Mondays to Thursdays at 22:15, Fridays at 23:15, Saturdays at varying times and Sundays at 22:45. On special news occasions, a ''Tagesthemen extra'' is also broadcast before the main show. Each ''Tagesthemen'' broadcast has a single host, a single newsreader for the news block, usually from the earlier ''Tagesschau'', a weather presenter broadcasting from Frankfurt, and a presenter for the sports block on the weekends. Previously recorded ''Tagesthemen'' newscasts can also be seen internationally via YouTube on Tagesschau's YouTube Channel. Ingo Zamperoni
Ingo Antonio Zamperoni (born May 3, 1974, in Wiesbaden, West Germany) is a German news presenter and journalist. Between 2012 and 2014, he was the presenter of the ''Tagesthemen'' news magazine on the Das Erste channel, a role he continued in October 2016 upon returning from deployment as the ARD (broadcaster), ARD correspondent in Washington, D.C. between 2014 and 2016. Life and career Born to an Italian father and German mother, Zamperoni was first introduced to presenting and journalism when he, after having obtained his abitur, was in Alternative civilian service, civilian service at the :de:Radio Klinikfunk, Radio Klinikfunk station in Wiesbaden. Aline Abboud
Aline Abboud (born ) is a German journalist and television presenter. Having studied Arab studies at Leipzig University, she worked for the German public broadcaster ZDF as an editor and reporter with a focus on foreign affairs. Since September 2021, Abboud presents ''Tagesthemen'', a daily news magazine broadcast by ARD. She is the first woman born in the German Democratic Republic to hold this position. Early life and education Aline Abboud was born in 1988 in East Berlin, then part of the German Democratic Republic, to a Lebanese father and a German mother. She read Arab studies at Leipzig University with stints in Beirut and Istanbul. ''Tagesschau'' (German for ''Review of the Day'') is a German national and international television news service produced by the editorial staff of ARD-aktuell on behalf of the German public service broadcasting, public-service television network ARD (broadcaster), ARD. Ulrich Wickert
Ulrich Wickert (born 2 December 1942) is a German journalist. He is one of the best-known broadcasters in Germany. Early life Born in Tokyo, Japan, Wickert grew up in Heidelberg and Paris as a result of his father Erwin Wickert being employed with NATO as a German diplomat. In the 1960s, he studied law and political sciences at the University of Bonn. In 1962, he spent a year at Wesleyan University on a Fulbright scholarship. After passing the first level of German bar exams in 1968, he started working as freelance radio producer for ARD, becoming a full-time editor there a short time later. Caren Miosga
Caren Miosga (born 11 April 1969 in Peine) is a German journalist and television presenter. Early life and education Caren Miosga grew up in Groß Ilsede, Lower Saxony, and attended the local grammar school. She studied history and Slavic studies in Hamburg. Miosga is fluent in Russian as she worked as a tour guide in Saint Petersburg and Moscow during her studies. Career After completing her studies, Miosga worked for several radio stations – Radio Schleswig-Holstein (R.SH), Radio Hamburg and N-Joy – and the television channel RTL Television North. Anne Will (born 18 March 1966) is a German television journalist and host of the eponymous political talk show. She was anchorwoman of the daily ''Tagesthemen'' news broadcast on ARD from 14 April 2001 until 24 June 2007. Early life and career Will was born on 18 March 1966 in Cologne, West Germany, the daughter of an architect. She grew up in Hürth and attended the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium high school. Sabine Christiansen (born 20 September 1957 in Preetz, Schleswig-Holstein, West Germany) is a German journalist and television presenter. Klaus-Peter Siegloch (born 15 May 1946) is a former German journalist and lobbyist. Life Siegloch was born in Hamburg. He studied sociology, economics and political science at the University of Hamburg, graduating in 1973. Siegloch worked as a television journalist between 1973 and 2011, for German public broadcaster ARD from 1973 to 1988 and from 1988 to 2011 for ZDF. Hanns Joachim Friedrichs
Hanns Joachim "Hajo" Friedrichs (15 March 1927 – 28 March 1995) was a German journalist. Life Friedrichs was born in Hamm. From 1971 to 1981, he was a sports journalist for the German magazine ''Sportstudio''. 1985 Friedrichs went from ZDF to ARD. In Germany Friedrichs became famous as the anchorman for the television news program Tagesthemen, which he moderated alternately with Ulrike Wolf (*1944) and later Sabine Christiansen. He was succeeded by Ulrich Wickert. Friedrichs died in March 1995 from lung cancer. The Hanns-Joachim-Friedrichs-Award for works in journalism is named after him.
