Trial Of Benjamin Netanyahu
Benjamin Netanyahu served three times as Israel's Prime Minister from 1996–1999, 2009–2021, and from 2022 onwards. His fourth and fifth term as prime minister was overshadowed by ongoing investigation into alleged bribery, fraud and breach of trust by him and close political allies within his inner circle. The Israel Police began investigating Netanyahu starting in December 2016. As a result of their investigation, police recommended indictments against Netanyahu. Additionally, on 21 November 2019, Netanyahu was officially indicted for breach of trust, accepting bribes, and fraud. As a result of the indictment, Netanyahu is legally required to relinquish his ministry portfolios other than prime minister. Netanyahu's trial in the Jerusalem District Court began on 24 May 2020. Shaul Elovitch (; born 1948) is an Israeli businessman and the owner of Eurocom Group, one of the largest private holding groups in Israel. Background Shaul Elovitch was born in 1948 in Poland and made aliyah to Israel when he was two years old. He grew up in Tel Aviv and married at the age of 20. In 1968, shortly after completing his military service, he joined his father-in-law's small business of installing intercoms and television antennas and importing telephones. Shai Nitzan was the former State Attorney of Israel, from 2013 to December 2019. Nitzan headed the commission assigned to investigate the October 2000 events, finding no misconduct on the part of the Israel Police. The position was vacant from December 2019 to 5 February 2020, when Dan Eldad was appointed to the position. Roni Alsheikh (or Roni Alsheich, he, רוני אלשיך, born 20 March 1963) is an Israeli former intelligence officer and head of the Israel Police. David Hai Bitan ( he, דָּוִד בִּיטָן, born 8 April 1960) is an Israeli lawyer and politician. He currently serves as a member of the Knesset from the Likud party.
