The Stinky Puffs
The Stinky Puffs were an early 1990s rock band composed of seven-year-old Simon Fair Timony, then-stepson of Jad Fair, and Cody Linn Ranaldo, son of Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo. After a 7" single an LP followed in 1995 titled '' A Little Tiny Smelly Bit of...the Stinky Puffs'' and an EP in 1996 titled '' Songs and Advice for Kids Who Have Been Left Behind''. Kurt Cobain, of the band Nirvana, was a fan of the band and friend of lead singer Timony. In Cobain's personal journal, he wrote a letter to Timony asking him to contribute artwork for what was to become ''In Utero''. Timony also managed the fanclub of Nirvana. When he sold the fanclub-cards, he asked "Send candy not money!". The Stinky Puffs performed in 1994 at the indie rock festival Yoyo A Go Go in Olympia, Washington. Surviving Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl played bass and drums for the band, in their first shared public appearance since Kurt Cobain's death. Yoyo A Go Go
Yoyo A Go Go, usually abbreviated to Yoyo and often typeset in various ways, was an independent music festival in Olympia, Washington, first held in 1994 and followed by successor festivals in 1997, 1999, and 2001. Five- and six-day concert marathons featured dozens of punk and indie rock acts stacked back to back, as well as a variety of associated entertainment and small-scale local retail. The concerts took place at the historic Capitol Theater and showcased performers from the local Olympia music scene, while also including national and international artists. Background The first Yoyo enterprise was a recording studio built inside Olympia's Capitol Theater by audio engineer Pat Maley. ''12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief'' was a benefit concert that took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 12, 2012. The concert was held in response to Hurricane Sandy, which devastated portions of the Northeastern United States, the Caribbean and the Mid-Atlantic in late October 2012 and cost an estimated $60 billion in damage in the United States. The concert was broadcast live via television, radio, movie theaters and the Internet, and released on DVD and CD. A documentary film was also made about the concert. ''In Utero'' is the third and final studio album by American rock band Nirvana. It was released on September 21, 1993, by DGC Records. After breaking into the mainstream with their second album, ''Nevermind'' (1991), Nirvana hired Steve Albini to record ''In Utero'', seeking a more complex, abrasive sound that was also reminiscent of their debut album, ''Bleach'' (1989). Frontman Kurt Cobain took heavy inspiration from his personal struggles for the album's lyrics, many of which express feelings of angst that were common on ''Nevermind''. The album was recorded over two weeks in February 1993 at Pachyderm Studio in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.
