The Sixth Form College, Solihull
Solihull Sixth Form College is a further education college for students aged 16 to 19. It is situated on the outskirts of Solihull in the West Midlands and draws students from across Solihull and Birmingham. Founded in 1974, the college consists of several large buildings on a single site. The college offers different subjects at A-Level, as well as a small number of vocational courses. Solihull
Solihull (, or ) is a market town and the administrative centre of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in West Midlands County, England. The town had a population of 126,577 at the 2021 Census. Solihull is situated on the River Blythe in the Forest of Arden area. Solihull's wider borough had a population of 216,240 at the 2021 Census. Solihull itself is mostly urban; however, the larger borough is rural in character, with many outlying villages, and three quarters of the borough is designated as green belt. Julian Eastoe
Julian Grahame Eastoe (born January 1965) is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Bristol. His research interests span colloid and interface science, surfactant chemistry and applications of neutron scattering. He was educated at Solihull Sixth Form College and the University of East Anglia (BSc Chemistry, 1986; PhD, 1990). Gary Knight
Gary Knight (born 1964) is an Anglo-American photographer, editor and author. Co-founder of the VII Photo Agency, co-founder and CEO of the VII Foundation and founder and CEO of the VII Academy. Life and work Knight was born in 1964 in Oakham, England and was raised in the village of Knowle in the West Midlands. He attended Arden School and Solihull Sixth Form College. Knight left higher education midway through his first year and started to travel in Europe and the Middle East. He began working as a photographer in the late 1980s in South East Asia and Indochina from his home in Bangkok, Thailand. Justin Matthew King, CBE (born 17 May 1961) is an English businessman. King served as the CEO of J Sainsbury plc, parent company of the supermarket chain Sainsbury's, for ten years before stepping down in July 2014. Richard Harrison (scientist)
Richard Anthony Harrison MBE FRAS FInstP is the Head of Space Physics Division and Chief Scientist at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the United Kingdom. He is best known for his magnetic twisting theory involving the coronal heating problem of the Sun's atmosphere. He was born in Solihull, West Midlands (County) and attended Solihull Sixth Form College and Birmingham University. Whilst in his late teens, and as a keen acoustic guitarist, he set up a band called Capella. Fellow band members were his brother, Jeremy, and David J Nutting. Ocean Colour Scene (often abbreviated to OCS) are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Solihull in 1989. They have had five top 10 albums including a number one in 1997. They have also achieved seventeen top 40 singles and six top 10 singles to date. History Early days (1990–1995) Ocean Colour Scene were formed after two other bands called The Boys and Fanatics disbanded. Fanatics released an Extended play, EP titled ''Suburban Love Songs''. Simon Fowler
Simon Geoffrey Fowler (born 25 May 1965 in Meriden, Warwickshire) is an English singer and acoustic guitarist, best known as the frontman of Ocean Colour Scene. The Fanatics Simon Fowler commenced his music career as the lead singer and songwriter for Birmingham band The Fanatics, which consisted of Simon Fowler (vocals & guitar), Damon Minchella (bass), Paul Wilkes (guitar) and Carolyn Bullock (drums). Future Ocean Colour Scene drummer and former Echo Base band member Oscar Harrison replaced Bullock on drums.
