The Nails
The Nails were originally a five-piece new wave band that formed in Boulder, Colorado in 1976. In Colorado, they were originally named The Ravers. The band members were Marc Campbell (lead vocals, guitar), Dave Kaufman (keyboards), Al Leis (drums), Artie Freeman (lead guitar), and Jon Cormany (bass). The band's roadie, Eric Boucher, went on to be known as Jello Biafra, lead singer of the Dead Kennedys. History In 1977, the Ravers recorded an EP in Boulder with Screwball Records. The Ravers moved to New York in June 1977 and played the showcase clubs CBGB and Max's Kansas City. Shortly after arriving in NY, The Ravers changed their name to The Nails (there was a local band named Raver). A 45 with the band's original lineup was recorded in New York City in 1978. New Wave Music

Jello Biafra
Eric Reed Boucher (born June 17, 1958), known professionally as Jello Biafra, is an American singer, spoken word artist and politician. He is the former lead singer and songwriter for the San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys. Initially active from 1979 to 1986, Dead Kennedys were known for rapid-fire music topped with Biafra's sardonic lyrics and biting social commentary, delivered in his "unique quiver of a voice". When the band broke up in 1986, he took over the influential independent record label Alternative Tentacles, which he had founded in 1979 with Dead Kennedys bandmate East Bay Ray. "88 Lines About 44 Women" is a song by the new wave band the Nails. Initially recorded for their 1981 EP ''Hotel for Women'', the song was re-recorded and released on the 1984 debut album ''Mood Swing''. Along with the track "Let It All Hang Out", "88 Lines About 44 Women" peaked at number 46 on the US dance chart in March 1985. Background and recording Marc Campbell and David Kaufman of The Nails wrote "88 Lines About 44 Women" in a Manhattan loft. The rhythm track on the song was a preprogrammed track on Kaufman's Casio keyboard. The lyrics describe 44 different women, their habits, and their personalities. Campbell wrote the lyrics to the song and has explained that "some of the women eferenced in the songare real, some are made up." Much of the song was inspired by women the group had encountered while moving from Boulder, Colorado, to New York City. The Clash
The Clash were an English rock band formed in London in 1976 who were key players in the original wave of British punk rock. Billed as "The Only Band That Matters", they also contributed to the and new wave movements that emerged in the wake of punk and employed elements of a variety of genres including reggae, dub, funk, ska, and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, the Clash consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joe Strummer, lead guitarist and vocalist Mick Jones, bassist Paul Simonon, and drummer Nicky "Topper" Headon.
