Teind
In Scotland a teind () was a tithe derived from the produce of the land for the maintenance of the clergy. It is also an old lowland term for a tribute due to be paid by the fairies to the devil every seven years. Found in the story of Tam Lin as well as in the ballad of Thomas the Rhymer. Teind is a Scots word for tithe, meaning a tenth part. Scottish Reformation and the Thirds of Benefices Teinds had been used to support the living expenses of clergy. On 15 February 1562 the Privy Council of Scotland regulated the collection of a third of the teinds for the stipends of ministers of the reformed church and the expenses of the royal household. A survey was made of rentals and revenues received by clergy. Tanel Tein (born 10 January 1978) is an Estonian former professional basketball player. He was named Estonian Player of the Year in 2008. Tein played one season of college basketball for the St. Francis Terriers. Professional career Tein started his career playing for hometown team Tartu in 1993 and led them to two Estonian championships (2000, 2001) and three Estonian Cups (2000–2002). In July 2003, he signed with Śląsk Wrocław of the Polish Basketball League and the Euroleague, and won the Polish Cup in 2004. Teigne (also : Teign, Tègne, Teeñ, Tin or Tañ in Wolof language) was the title of the monarch of the pre-colonial Kingdom of Baol, now part of present-day Senegal. In Wolof, "Teigne" means the support that is placed on the head to carry something heavy, a bucket of water for example, in this case, it means the Sovereign or king carries a heavy responsibility.
