Studio1.1
Studio1.1 is an artist-run space situated in Shoreditch, East London with outpost galleries of Studio1.1 in Brazil (Studio1.3), Croatia (Studio1.4) and the Netherlands (Studio1.2). History The gallery was founded in April 2003 as a co-operative by Michael Keenan and Keran James. Honorary patrons are Sacha Craddock and Vanessa Jackson. Studio1.1 curates off-site shows as well as gallery exhibitions. In 2005, Studio1.1 participated in the Zoo Art Fair at Regent's Park. In 2010, Studio1.1 participated in ''No Soul for Sale – a Festival of Independents'' at the Tate Modern Turbine Hall in celebration of Tate Modern's tenth anniversary. In 2011, Studio1.1 exhibited at Sluice Art Fair in London, a satellite event of Frieze Art Fair, which continued in following years. In 2014, Studio1.1 exhibited at Sluice in Brooklyn. Vanessa Jackson
Vanessa Jackson (born 6 June 1953; Peaslake, Surrey) is a British painter, notable for her wall installation paintings. She was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts in 2015. Education and career Jackson studied at Saint Martin's School of Art, where she received a B.A. first class honours in 1975, and the Royal College of Art, where she received an MA in 1978. In 1985 and 1990, she undertook the Yaddo Residency in to New York. Jackson has an extensive career teaching fine art. She was Head of Painting at Winchester School of Art from 1988 to 1997, MA and research tutor at the Royal College of Art, and senior tutor at the Royal Academy Schools from 1998 to 2013. She is currently a member of the fine art faculty at the British School at Rome and is the Chair of the Edwin Austin Abbey Council, which provides awards for painters. Annie Kevans
Annie Kevans (born Cannes, France) is an English artist who paints series of 'portraits' that explore sometimes controversial concepts and alternative histories. They are "portraits only in a loose sense... her works being a composite of existing images, research and imagination". Kevans has been described as "sensitive yet fearless, an artist who tackles controversial subjects head on". She was named number 19 in ''Harper's Bazaar'' magazine's "Forty Under 40" chart of hot new British talent and was named number 32 in ''New Woman'' magazine's "Brit Hit List" and was described as the "new Tracey Emin". Cees Krijnen
Cornelis Hendrik "Cees" Krijnen (born 29 May 1969 in Velsen) is a Dutch artist. Krijnen studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the post-academic education DasArts, both in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 1999 he won the Dutch art prize Prix de Rome in the discipline Theatre/Visual Arts, with a reality project named ''Financing my Parents Divorce''. This resulted in the ''Woman in Divorce Battle on Tour'', with exhibitions and performances in New York, London, Paris, Luzern, Milan, Montreal (La Biennale de Montreal) and other cities. For this, he cooperated with, amongst others, the Italian design house Pininfarina, the British department store chain Selfridges, the Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain and the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto. Sluice Art Fair
Sluice Art Fair (also known as Sluice or stylized as Sluice__) is a London-based biennial contemporary art fair open to alternative galleries and art organisations run by artists and curators. History Sluice Art Fair was founded by artist Karl England and art historian Ben Street in 2011 with the first iteration of the fair taking place in Mayfair at the same week as the Frieze Art Fair. Galleries included Transition Gallery, Fordham and Studio1.1. In 2013 the art fair moved to Bermondsey opposite White Cube and expanded to incorporate galleries from Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Southampton, Athens, Barcelona, and Brooklyn, New York. Braziers Park
Braziers Park is a Grade II* country house and estate on the edge of Ipsden - a small village near Wallingford, Oxfordshire, England - housing a secular intentional community and the School of Integrative Social Research. It has also been used as a film location for large- and small-budget films. The house once belonged to Ian Fleming's family, and the room that was once Fleming's nursery is now a library. History Braziers Park was built in the late 17th century (with a datestone of 1688), and modelled in the Strawberry Hill Gothic style of architecture by Daniel Harris on behalf of Isaac George Manley (1755–1837) in 1799. Artist-in-residence
Artist-in-residence, or artist residencies, encompass a wide spectrum of artistic programs which involve a collaboration between artists and hosting organisations, institutions, or communities. They are programs which provide artists with space and resources to support their artistic practice. Contemporary artist residencies are becoming increasingly thematic, with artists working together with their host in pursuit of a specific outcome related to a particular theme. Debate is a process that involves formal discourse on a particular topic, often including a moderator and audience. In a debate, arguments are put forward for often opposing viewpoints. Debates have historically occurred in public meetings, academic institutions, debate halls, coffeehouses, competitions, and legislative assemblies. Charles Williams (artist)
Charles Williams (born 16 March 1965) is a British artist. He is a founding member of the Stuckist art group and a member of the New English Art Club. Life and work Charles Williams was born in Evanston, Illinois, USA, and raised in England. He was educated at Kent College in Canterbury, Maidstone College of Art and the Royal Academy, London, where in 1992 he won the top prize for painting as well as the prize for anatomical drawing. In 1996, he was elected to the New English Art Club (NEAC) with whom he regularly exhibits in the Mall Galleries in London. Giorgio Sadotti
Giorgio Sadotti (born 1955 in Manchester, UK) is a conceptual artist based in London. In 1993, Sadotti exhibited at City Racing, and in 1996 participated in a group show organised by City Racing at Bricks and Kicks in Vienna run by Muntean and Rosenblum. Other solo exhibitions include the Henry Moore Institute (2006). He described his work, ''Went to America Didn't say a word'' (1999): "On the morning of Saturday March 20, 1999, I flew on American Airlines from London Heathrow to New Yorks John F. Kennedy airport. I was wired for sound and upon arrival switched on my mini-disc recorder. I stayed overnight at a hotel on Lexington and 21st and flew back to London the following evening whilst in America I didn't say a word, but all my waking hours were recorded.
