Strike Fund
Strike pay is a payment made by a trade union to workers who are on strike to help in meeting their basic needs while on strike, often out of a special reserve known as a ''strike fund''. Union workers reason that the availability of strike pay increases their leverage at the bargaining table and actually decreases the probability of a strike, since the employers are aware that their employees have this financial resource available to them if they choose to strike. By countries Spain The main unions providing a strike fund in Spain are (USO) and the Basque Basque Workers' Solidarity (ELA-STV). According to ELA, its fund received 13.7 million euros between 2008 and 2011, 15.1% of its expenses, and 19.1 M€ between 2012 and 2016 (16,24%). It receives amounts to 25% of the dues of its members. In the United States, a special assessment is a charge that public authorities can assess against real estate parcels for certain public projects. LAB (Basque Union)
(, Basque for "Nationalist Workers' Committees") is a Basque left-wing nationalist and separatist trade union operating mainly in Spain currently led by Garbiñe Aranburu. It was created in 1974 by Jon Idigoras among others. They are part of the Basque National Liberation Movement, an aggregation of leftist Basque nationalist forces including the illegal paramilitary organization Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) and the illegal parties Batasuna and Segi. It is supported by around 45.000 affiliates. The union is legal and it is one of the four major of its kind in the Basque Country. A minimum wage is the lowest remuneration that employers can legally pay their employees—the price floor below which employees may not sell their labor. Basque Workers' Solidarity
Basque Workers' Solidarity (in Basque: ''Eusko Langileen Alkartasuna'' (ELA), in Spanish: ''Solidaridad de Trabajadores Vascos'' (STV)) is the most influential trade union in Basque Country, having been created, as ''Solidaridad de Obreros Vascos'', by members of the Basque Nationalist Party on June 10, 1911, in Bilbao. History It was opposed to the influence of trade unions who appealed to a working class ethos (Socialist UGT and Anarchist CNT), advocating instead a Basque nationalist outlook. Initially, ELA-STV was centered on projects of mutual assistance between its affiliates, as a vehicle for social security. It expanded with much more success in Guipúzcoa and Biscay than in Navarre and Álava. ELA-STV was caught in the fighting of the Spanish Civil War, and banned by the Francoist State.
