Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Shuttle hurdle relay (SHR) is a type of a relay race in track and field in which participants jump (sprint) over hurdles. The shuttle hurdle relay is contested at the Drake Relays, Kansas Relays, Mt. SAC Relays, Penn Relays, Texas Relays, Akron Relays, Alabama Relay, Appalachian Conference Relay, Florida Relays (Gainesville), Knoxville Relay, Long Beach Relay, Santa Barbara Relay, Tennessee Relays (formerly: Dogwood Relays, Sea Ray Relays), Towson Relays, and Tri-State Relays. The SHR was also included at the 2019 IAAF World Relays – Mixed shuttle hurdles relay, 2019 IAAF World Relays and 2021 competition. High Hurdle Relay Currently the SHR is referred to as the 4 x 60 Hurdles, 4 x 80 Hurdles, 4 x 100 Hurdles, and 4 x 110 Hurdles. In the past the term shuttle hurdle relay was more commonly used. Ronnie Ash
Ronnie Ash (born July 2, 1988) is an American track and field athlete specializing in hurdles. With his 12.99 (+1.2) 110 metres hurdles on June 29, 2014 in a semi-final round of the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, California, he moved into the prestigious sub 13 club and is currently the 17th fastest hurdler in history. Ash did not finish in the final. Later in the season, Ash was silver medalist at the 2014 IAAF Continental Cup, selected to the team because his time held up as the #2 time from the countries that make up the Americas team for the season. Duane Ross
Randolph Duane Ross (born December 5, 1972) is an American collegiate track and field coach, and former athlete, specializing in the 110 meters hurdles. He is currently the Director of Track and Field programs for the University of Tennessee and is best known for winning the bronze medal at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics and representing the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Terry Reese
Terry Reese (born June 20, 1967) is an American male former track and field hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter hurdles. His best season came in 1997: that year he had his only top three finish at national level at the 1997 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placed sixth in the final at the 1997 World Championships in Athletics, and set a lifetime best of 13.22 seconds in Cologne, Germany. He had his highest global ranking that year, at ninth overall. He was a finalist at national level in other years, taking fourth in 1995 and sixth in 2001 and 2002. Allen Johnson
Allen Kenneth Johnson (born March 1, 1971) is an American former hurdling athlete who won the gold medal in the 110 metre hurdles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also a four-time world champion. Born in Washington, D.C., an all-round athlete, Johnson attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and excelled at high jump, long jump and decathlon as well as hurdles. Aubrey Herring
Aubrey Herring (born September 19, 1978) is an American track and field athlete. Herring was born in Oklahoma and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1994 where he attended Warren Central High School and graduated in 1996. Herring was the 1996 Indiana State Champion in the 110m high hurdles and runner-up in the 330M hurdles. After high school he attended Indiana State University (ISU) where he was recruited as a 110m hurdler by coach John McNichols. Herring was a seven-time NCAA All-American while at ISU and was the 2001 NCAA Indoor Champion for 60 meter hurdles in Fayetteville, Arkansas. David Payne (athlete)
David Thorn Payne (born July 24, 1982) is an American hurdler. He was born in Cincinnati and his family moved to the suburb of Wyoming in Ohio. Payne competed in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles while attending the University of Cincinnati. While at UC, Payne won multiple individual titles in Conference USA and was named Conference USA Outdoor Athlete of the Year while guiding the Bearcats to the C-USA 2004 outdoor title. He set school records for both distances and was a two time NCAA All-American in the 110m hurdles. Payne now resides in Northern Kentucky and trains in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2007 he won the silver medal at the Pan American Games behind Dayron Robles, and the bronze medal at the 2007 World Championships, the latter in a personal best time of 13.02 seconds.
