The Stonk
Hale and Pace were an English comedy double-act that performed in clubs and on radio and television in the United Kingdom in the 1980s and 1990s. The duo was made up of Gareth Hale and Norman Pace, with the ''Hale and Pace'' television show running for ten years and 66 episodes, from 1988 to 1998. Early career Gareth Hale (born 15 January 1953) and Norman Pace (born 17 February 1953) met at Avery Hill teacher-training college in Eltham, South-East London. After five years in education, they moved to entertainment in the late 1970s. They performed mostly in the Tramshed in Woolwich, London for seven years. This developed into sketch-writing, with a show entitled '' Don't Stop Now - It's Fundation''. Before appearing on TV, they did a series of radio shows for Radio 4 based on their show at the Tramshed. The Eyre Affair
''The Eyre Affair'' is the debut novel by English author Jasper Fforde, published by Hodder and Stoughton in 2001. It takes place in an alternative 1985, where literary detective Thursday Next pursues a master criminal through the world of Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel ''Jane Eyre''. Fforde had received 76 rejections for earlier works before being accepted by a publisher. Critical reception of this novel was generally positive, remarking on its originality. Plot summary In a parallel universe, England and Imperial Russia have fought the Crimean War for more than a century; although now a republic (with entertainer George Formby as its president), England still also has a parliamentary government, although heavily influenced by the Goliath Corporation (a powerful weapon-producing company with questionable morals); and Wales is a separate, socialist nation. Derwyddon Dr Gonzo
Derwyddon Dr Gonzo were a Welsh-language funk and ska band from Llanrug, North Wales. Having reached number one in Siart C2 (Welsh Language Music Chart), their music has received airplay on BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio 1 and Serbian radio. The band performed regularly on the Welsh language scene circuit, in addition to larger festivals such as Latitude Festival, Wakestock, Sŵn, Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau and ''Maes B'' at the National Eisteddfod. Their second EP, ''Chaviach/Bwthyn'' was released on the Copa Label in 2008. On 27 July 2009 the band released their second album, ''Stonk!'', on the Copa label, and recorded at the Wings for Jesus Studio in Cardiff by Sir Doufus Styles. The Borrible Trilogy
''The Borrible Trilogy'' is a series of young adult books written by English writer Michael de Larrabeiti. The three volumes in the trilogy are ''The Borribles'', '' The Borribles Go For Broke'', and '' The Borribles: Across the Dark Metropolis''. The Borribles' antagonists, the Rumbles, who play a significant part in the first book, are satires of perennial children's favourites ''The Wombles''. The scheduled release of the third book coincided with the English riots of 1985, and because of the strong anti-authoritarian theme, the publishers took the decision not to publish it. The books went out of print but have been republished as a single volume. In June 2002 the trilogy was printed in the UK by Pan Macmillan as a trade paperback with an introduction by China Miéville; in April 2003, the UK branch of Tor Books reissued the trilogy in a smaller paperback volume.
