Khnum Muata Ibomu (born Clayton Gavin, March 6, 1974), better known by his stage name stic.man and more recently as stic, is an American rapper, activist and author known for his work as one half of the political hip hop duo dead prez with M-1. Life and career Khnum Muata Ibomu was born and raised in the rural unincorporated community of Shadeville, Florida. He studied at James S. Rickards and Wakulla High Schools. In 1990, while in the 10th grade at Wakulla, Gavin was prevented from performing a rap song entitled "Black As I Can Get" for a Black History Month assembly. The incident prompted students to boycott classes following the assembly and led to a picket of the school joined by parents. Revolutionary But Gangsta
''RBG: Revolutionary but Gangsta'' is the second studio album by hip-hop duo dead prez. It was released March 30, 2004 on Sony Records. RBG was described by M-1 as a movement that "comes off the back of the Honorable Marcus Garvey." According to him, "RBG means Red, Black and Green," the traditional African colors created by the UNIA, which are featured on the album cover. With this album Dead Prez "made it Revolutionary But Gangsta." On ''RBG: Revolutionary but Gangsta'', Dead Prez talks about ending poverty, the mental illness of depression, reliance on the government but of "pimping the system" as a means to this end and to the cause of liberation. Dead Prez, often stylized as dead prez, is an American hip hop duo composed of stic.man and M-1, formed in 1996 in New York City. They are known for their confrontational style, combined with lyrics focused on both militant social justice, self-determination, and Pan-Africanism. The duo maintains an ethical stance against corporate control over the media, especially hip hop record labels. Career Background (1990–2000) In 1990, M-1 headed to Tallahassee, Florida, to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where he and stic.man met and formed a relationship due to their mutual love of music and similar leftist political ideology. ''Soldier 2 Soldier'' is a collaborative studio album by rappers stic.man and Young Noble. It was released on October 3, 2006. In early 2006, the political, sometimes militant, Dead Prez member stic.man and Outlawz's Young Noble collaborated to make ''Soldier 2 Soldier''. Felipe Andres Coronel (born February 19, 1978), better known by the stage name Immortal Technique, is an American rapper. Most of his lyrics focus on controversial issues in global politics, from a radical left-wing perspective.
