Gill Holland
John Gill Holland, Jr. (born November 7, 1964) is an American film producer and co-developer of The Green Building in Louisville, Kentucky. Early life and education Born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Holland was raised in Davidson, North Carolina. Holland's father was born in Lynch, Kentucky and grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia. His mother was born in Norway. An Eagle Scout, Holland graduated from The Episcopal High School (Alexandria, VA) in 1983 and went on to be a Morehead Scholar and graduated from the University of North Carolina (B. A. 1987) ( J.D. 1991). He spent his junior year at Universite Paul Valery in Montpellier, France and one semester of law school with Pace University at University College, London, England. Builder Of The House
Builder of the House is an American folk pop band formed in Portland, Maine, in 2011, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Rob Cimitile and drummer Elliot Heeschen. Cimitile began performing under the name Builder of the House in 2010, but the group was cemented after Rob and Elliot met as members of a Zimbabwean marimba band. The band's musical style includes elements of Americana, roots, folk, and African music in a modern pop idiom augmented with electronic sounds. In performance, the band utilizes live looping, samples, and synthesizers, as well as acoustic instruments. The band has opened for Kaleo (band), Dylan LeBlanc, Pearl and the Beard, and Kristeen Young. Jim James
James Edward Olliges Jr. (born April 27, 1978), professionally known as Jim James or Yim Yames, is an American vocalist, guitarist, producer, and primary songwriter of the rock band My Morning Jacket. He has also released several solo albums. Early life James grew up in the Highlands–Douglass neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. He attended St. Martha grade school and graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1996. James briefly attended the University of Kentucky. Career Prior to forming My Morning Jacket, James was the vocalist and guitarist of Month of Sundays, currently known as Mont de Sundua. Edward "Teddy" Paul Maxwell Abrams (born May 6, 1987) is an American conductor, pianist, clarinetist, and composer. He is currently Music Director of the Louisville Orchestra and the Britt Festival Orchestra. Early life and education Abrams was born in Berkeley, California to non-musician parents, and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Abrams is a fourth-generation American; his ancestors immigrated to the US from Russia, Poland, and Hungary. Abrams started improvising on piano at age 3, and began formal lessons at age 5. At age 8, Abrams began playing clarinet in elementary school band, and developed an interest in conducting after seeing a San Francisco Symphony performance at age 9. Peter Searcy
Peter Searcy is a musician from Louisville, Kentucky. Spin Magazine, Scott Irwin, and Amanda Green have compared Searcy's straightforward songwriting style and voice to those of Paul Westerberg. Like Paul Westerberg of The Replacements, Searcy is a veteran of the hardcore scene. Searcy was the frontman of the Louisville hardcore punk group Squirrel Bait in the 1980s. After Squirrel Bait disbanded, Searcy (along with Squirrel Bait drummer Ben Daughtrey) formed a funk-rock group called Fanci Pantz. Fanci Pantz garnered a lot of praise and major label attention, but they broke up before they could record an album. After the demise of Fanci Pantz, Searcy joined Big Wheel in 1989, which released three albums (two on Mammoth Records) before breaking up in 1993. Mark Geary
Mark Geary is an Irish singer-songwriter born in Dublin, Ireland, into a large family with seven siblings, one of whom is actor Karl Geary. In 1992 he emigrated to New York City with a one-way ticket after winning a lottery green card. Living in New York's East Village, Mark honed his craft and sang alongside the best of them in Sin-é cafe, including the late Jeff Buckley. Love Jones is an American band from Louisville, Kentucky formed in 1990 and consists of Ben Daughtrey (vocals, percussion), Barry Thomas (bass), Chris Hawpe (vocals, guitar), Jonathan Palmer (vocals), and Stuart Johnson (drums). Love Jones was prominent among the "Cocktail Nation" groups of the early 1990s. The genre — which included Combustible Edison, The Cocktails and Donkey — was a reaction to the grunge music of the early 1990s. Cocktail Nation bands celebrated the aesthetics and music of the 1950s and early 1960s — lounge jazz, crooning pop, and martinis. Kyle James Hauser is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and singer. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia on March 14, 1985.
