Second Müller Senate
The second Müller senate was the state government of Berlin between 2016 and 2021, sworn in on 8 December 2016 after Michael Müller was elected as Governing Mayor by the members of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin. It was the 27th Senate of Berlin. Ramona Pop (born 31 October 1977) is a Romanian-born German politician of the Alliance '90/The Greens party who has been serving as chairwoman of the Federation of German Consumer Organisations (VZBV) since 2022. She previously served as a deputy mayor of Berlin and Senator for Economy, Energy, and Enterprises (''Senatorin für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe'') from 2016 until 2021. Early life and education Pop was born in Timișoara, and grew up in Romania until her family, of mixed Romanian and Romanian German origin, moved to Germany in 1988. In 1997 she completed high school. Grand coalition (german: Große Koalition, , shortened to: german: Groko, ) is a term in German politics describing a governing coalition of the parties Christian Democratic Union (CDU) along with its sister party the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU) and the Social Democratic Party (SPD), since they have historically been the major parties in most state and federal elections since 1949. The meaning of the term may change due to the growth of some formerly minor parties in recent years. Matthias Kollatz (born 24 September 1957) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) who served as State Minister of Finance in the government of Mayor Michael Müller of Berlin from 2014 to 2021. Andreas Geisel (born 1 March 1966) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who is serving as Senator for Urban Development, Construction and Housing in the Berlin state government since December 2021. Prior, he was Senator for Interior and Sport from 2016 to 2021, and Senator for Urban Development and Environment from 2014 to 2016. Early life and education Geisel was born 1 March 1966 in East Berlin. Geisel attended a polytechnic secondary school in East Berlin between 1972 and 1982. Between 1985 and 1986 Geisel worked a telecommunications technician at the East German Postal Service. From 1986 until 1990 he attended the College of Transportation Friedrich List in Dresden and studied Economics in regard to the media industry. Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (; "Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting"; abbreviated: RBB , stylized as rbb) is an institution under public law (national broadcaster) for the German states of Berlin and Brandenburg, based in Berlin and Potsdam.
