Running Target
Running target shooting refers to a number of target shooting sports and events involving a shooting target—sometimes called a boar, moose, or deer—that is made to move as if it is a running animal. Competitions are shot at known target distances, and with known target velocity and for how long the target is visible. The target starts every other time from left or right. Nordic Shooting Region
Nordic Shooting Region (NSR), established in 1921, is a union of some of the shooting associations from Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. NSR hosts Nordic championships for some of the ISSF disciplines within pistol, rifle, clay shooting and running target, in addition to some own Nordic disciplines. The 1969 European Running Target Championships was the 2nd edition of the running target competition, European Running Target Championships, organised by the International Shooting Sport Federation. The competition was also valid as a 1969 World Running Target Championships, in which the rankings of the races played with all world athletes were drawn up taking into account only European athletes. Sandviken
Sandviken is a locality and the seat of Sandviken Municipality in Gävleborg County, Sweden with 39,234 inhabitants in 2019. It is situated about 25 km west of Gävle and lies approximately 190 km north of Stockholm. Being the original running target event, it was shot with centerfire rifles from a distance of 100 meters, with the target moving sideways across a 20-meter-wide opening. There were two versions: single shot and double shot. Occasionally combined competitions, with half the course fired single-shot and half double-shot, were held instead of or in addition to the others. ISSF World Shooting Championships
The ISSF World Shooting Championships are governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation. World Shooting Championships began in 1897, after the successful 1896 Summer Olympics, and although the ISSF was not founded until 1907, these early competitions are still seen by the organization as the beginning of a continuous row of championships. By this logic, the 2006 competition in Zagreb was called the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships. These championships, including all ISSF shooting events, are held every four years since 1954. For the shotgun events only, there is an additional World Championship competition in odd-numbered years. These extra competitions are not numbered. 100 meter running moose (Norwegian ''elgbaneskyting'', Swedish ''älgbaneskytte'', Finnish ''hirviammunta'') is a shooting sport based on running targets simulating a moose moving sideways. The sport is popular in Norway, Sweden and Finland, with competitions being arranged by the Norwegian Association of Hunters and Anglers, Svenska Jägareförbundet and Finnish Hunters' Association, respectively.
