Rodrigo Duterte
Rodrigo Roa Duterte (, ; born March 28, 1945), also known as Digong, Rody, and by the initials DU30 and PRRD, is a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 16th president of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022. He is the chairperson of PDP–Laban, the ruling political party in the Philippines during his presidency. Duterte is the first president of the Philippines to be from Mindanao, and is the oldest person to assume office, beginning his term at age 71. Born in Maasin, Leyte (now in Southern Leyte), Duterte moved to Davao as a child where his father, Vicente Duterte, served as provincial governor. He studied political science at the Lyceum of the Philippines University, graduating in 1968, before obtaining a law degree from San Beda College of Law in 1972. Rody Kenny Courtice (born Roselyn Margaret Kenny; 1891–1973) was a modernist Canadian painter. She was associated with the Group of Seven early in her career, but later moved away into a more individual style. She was active in associations of artist and worked for the professionalization of their occupation. She also was an educator. Life Roselyn Margaret Kenny was born in Renfrew, Ontario, in 1891. She was one of the first women to be admitted to the Ontario College of Art to study under Arthur Lismer. She won a scholarship each year from 1920 to 1924. Courtice was a librarian at the Ontario College of Art from 1925 to 1926, and for ten years, was assistant instructor for children's classes under Lismer. She also studied puppets and stagecraft under Tony Sarg at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1927, and continued to study these subjects in New York, London and Paris. ''Rhodie'' is a colloquial term typically applied to a white Zimbabwean or expatriate Rhodesian. Origins of the term The term ''Rhodie'' was first used by British Army and civil service personnel in Rhodesia (renamed Zimbabwe in 1980) during the period between the Lancaster House Agreement of December 1979 and the formal independence of Zimbabwe in April 1980. The term was initially applied to all white Zimbabweans. After independence, the term began to be applied increasingly to those whites who were nostalgic for the past. The nostalgia a ''Rhodie'' feels relates particularly to the UDI era (1965 to 1979), during which the predominantly white government, headed by the Prime Minister Ian Smith, declared independence from Britain in an attempt to prevent any commitment to a set timetable regarding black majority rule.
