Red Button (Digital Television)
The Red Button is a push-button on the remote control for certain digital television set top boxes in the UK, Australia, Belgium, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and by DirecTV and Comcast in the United States. It is for interactive television services such as BBC Red Button and Astro (Malaysia). When interactive programmes are broadcast a ''Press Red'' icon will appear on the television screen. Accreditation for the protocols behind what were originally known as 'side channels' is commonly given to London-based Entertainments Consultancy company 'Southbank UK' (now disbanded). All-Asian Satellite Television and Radio Operator, doing business as Astro, is a Malaysian satellite television and IPTV provider. It operates in Malaysia and Brunei and operates from the All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) in Kuala Lumpur and MEASAT in Cyberjaya. In 2016, the company was recorded as achieving 71% household penetration in Malaysia. It was granted an exclusive license as the sole pay-television provider by the Malaysian federal government until 2017. Astro is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad and is operated by MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn. Bhd. TVB J2
TVB J2 () is a Digital TV Channel specially established by Television Broadcasts Limited, a commercial television station which first began broadcasting in 1967, for their new and free digital TV network in Hong Kong. It was officially launched on 30 June 2008. To watch this channel, a H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec is required, although viewers from Macau have free access if the user is using the public TV cable. It broadcasts 24 hours a day. The programmes it broadcasts are mostly in Cantonese, but occasionally there are programmes in other languages including Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Korean. TVB Finance, Sports & Information Channel (formerly TVB Finance Channel and TVB Finance & Information Channel, ) is a 24-hour non-stop Cantonese finance information channel based in Hong Kong and operated by TVB. The channel provides financial, sports and monetary information, and also different documentaries. It is currently the only finance & information channel in Hong Kong.
