Redeco
A redeco (from "redecorate") is a re-released version of an existing toy with a color scheme that is significantly different from the original release. Redecos normally include changes to the toy's paint application scheme, as opposed to a more straightforward repaint, which only alters the colors, not the ways in which they are applied to the toy. Redecos are an extremely popular way to create exclusive toys, allowing the new toy to look drastically different from the original, sometimes representing a different character, entity or item, without having to pay for an entirely new mold. Examples: * In ''Transformers'' with Autobots, "Transformers Toy Sightings: Iron Man (car redeco)", Seibertron, 2011, weSeib the toys of Starscream are often redecoed into Thundercracker and/or Skywarp. Similarly, toys of Optimus Prime are sometimes redecoed into Ultra Magnus or Nemesis Prime, and Megatron may be redecoed into Galvatron. * Mighty Muggs Mighty Muggs are a vinyl–plastic collectib ...

Ultra Magnus (Transformers)
Ultra Magnus is a fictional character from the various ''Transformers'' storylines in the Transformers franchise, generally appearing as a chief lieutenant of Optimus Prime. Transformers: Generation 1 Despite his incredible fighting skills, courage, and unmatched talent for improvisation on the battlefield, Ultra Magnus is not portrayed as a natural leader, and displayed discomfort if the Autobot Matrix of Leadership should ever find itself placed upon him. In Generation One, Ultra Magnus is a commander of the Wreckers (Transformers), and his reluctance to change ensures that he expends all options before accepting the idea that he is required to lead. As a leader, Magnus would be resolute, fair, and courageous, ever-ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good of his companions and mission, and unyielding in preparation for the protection of those under his command. Although not interested in overall command, Ultra Magnus was the City Commander for Autobot City in '' The ...

Starscream (Transformers)
Starscream is a fictional character in the ''Transformers'' media franchise. He is one of the most frequently occurring characters in the franchise, appearing in almost all of its different continuities. Starscream in generally depicted as the sadistic second-in-command of the Decepticon leader Megatron who transforms into a jet fighter and leads the Seekers, a group of Decepticons who share his body type. Across most continuities, Starscream's defining trait is his desire to overthrow Megatron and assume command of the Decepticons. This is usually out of greed and selfishness, though in some continuities, Starscream has been shown to genuinely care about the Decepticon cause and wish to bring it back on the right path, perceiving Megatron as a corrupt leader who led the Decepticons astray. Alternatively, other incarnations of Starscream have been portrayed as unquestionably loyal to Megatron or as an antihero who has tried (and sometimes even succeeded) to make peace with the Dec ...

Repaint
A repaint is a toy, typically a figure or doll, that was created entirely from a mold was previously available; however, the colors of the plastic and/or the paint operations have been changed. Repaints differ from redecos in that repaints do not alter the actual placement of paint applications while redecos do. Since molds can be expensive to create, this is often seen as a comparatively inexpensive way for a toy company to make many different toys available in a cost-effective manner. It is also an effective way for toy manufacturers to produce exclusive figures, chase figures or other variants. One of the many franchises that repaint their figures is Transformers. Bumblebee toys are sometimes repainted the color red to resemble another Transformers character: Cliffjumper. In the collecting of 1:6th action figures, repainting has several methods. They can generally be narrowed down to 3 categories: paint, pastel and wash. The term repaint also refers to fashion dolls whose or ...

Molding (process)
Molding (American English) or moulding (British and Commonwealth English; see spelling differences) is the process of manufacturing by shaping liquid or pliable raw material using a rigid frame called a mold or matrix. This itself may have been made using a pattern or model of the final object. A mold or mould is a hollowed-out block that is filled with a liquid or pliable material such as plastic, glass, metal, or ceramic raw material. The liquid hardens or sets inside the mold, adopting its shape. A mold is a counterpart to a cast. The very common bi-valve molding process uses two molds, one for each half of the object. Articulated molds have multiple pieces that come together to form the complete mold, and then disassemble to release the finished casting; they are expensive, but necessary when the casting shape has complex overhangs. Piece-molding uses a number of different molds, each creating a section of a complicated object. This is generally only used for larger a ...
