	Jean-Nicolas Pache Jean-Nicolas Pache (, 5 May 1746 – 18 November 1823) was a French politician, a Jacobin who served as Minister of War from October 1792 and Mayor of Paris from February 1793 to May 1794. Biography Pache was born in Verdun, but grew up in Paris, of Swiss parentage, the son of the concièrge of the hotel of Marshal de Castries. He became tutor to the marshal's children, and subsequently first secretary at the ministry of marine, head of supplies (''munitionnaire général des vivres''), and comptroller of the king's household. After spending several years in Switzerland with his family, he returned to France at the beginning of the Revolution. He was employed successively at the ministries of the interior and of war, and was appointed on 20 September 1793 third deputy suppliant of Paris by the Luxembourg section. Life Pache was born in Bischofswerda, Upper Lusatia, as son of a teacher. It was his father wish that Johannes should become a theologian as his two elder brothers did. Pache attended the school in Zittau, where his love to music awoke. He played piano, sang in a chorus and accomplished the first compositions. However, he neglected his school duties and stayed down. The father tried to convince him to become a teacher, all in vain. Pache resumed school in Bautzen, where he gave some music lectures and composed his first known pieces. Finally he convinced the father to let him study music in Dresden. In 1879 Pache got in Herisau his first appointment as organist and music director. 	Joseph Pache Joseph Pache (1861–1926) was a composer, teacher, and director of the Baltimore Oratorio society from 1892 to 1924 when the society disbanded. Move to the United States and Professional Career Pache was a native of Germany and studied at the Munich Conservatory and with Max Bruch in Breslau. When a sister conservatory was founded in New York, he decided to relocate and around 1890, he started work in New York. In 1892, Pache was contacted by Otto Sutro, the founder of the Baltimore Oratorio Society. Sutro requested that Pache work as the director for the society. The previous director, Fritz Frinke, had returned to Germany. Pache agreed to move to Baltimore not out of his love for the position, but because he enjoyed the variety and quantity of food in Lexington Market. Pache spent 32 years directing the Baltimore Oratorio Society and to supplement also organized the Women's Philharmonic Society and the Oratorio society of York, PA.
