The province has a population of 1,103,768 (2023), an area of , and contains 242 '' comuni'' (: '' comune''). Geography The province of Bergamo borders the province of Sondrio to the north, the province of Brescia to the east, the province of Cremona to the south and the Metropolitan City of Milan and the provinces of Monza and Brianza and Lecco to the west. The northern part spans the Orobian Alps with the highest point being Mount Coca at . Its rivers include the Serio, Dezzo, Cherio, Brembo, and Adda. Val Brembana is a valley in Lombardy, northern Italy. It takes its name from the river crossing it, the Brembo. Geography The Bergamo Alps form the valley's northern limits, notably the Tre Signori and Diavolo di Tenda Peaks, while at south lies the plain of Bergamo. To the east, the valley borders with the Valle Seriana and to the west with the Valle Imagna. The main centers of the valley is San Pellegrino Terme. The Adda (Latin ''Abdua'', or ''Addua''; in Lombard ''Ada'' or, again, ''Adda'' in local dialects where the double consonants are marked) is a river in North Italy, a tributary of the Po.
