Real Presence
The real presence of Christ in the Eucharist is the Christian doctrine that Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist, not merely symbolically or metaphorically, but in a true, real and substantial way. There are a number of Christian denominations that teach that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist, including Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, the Church of the East, the Moravian Church, Lutheranism, Anglicanism, Methodism, Irvingism and Reformed Christianity. In computer and telecommunications networks, presence information is a status indicator that conveys ability and willingness of a potential communication partner—for example a user—to communicate. In an amplifier, a presence control boosts the upper mid-range frequencies to make the sounds of voices and instruments with similar tonal ranges seem more "present". On television production studio's sound desk, there can be several presence controls, for several different, switchable, frequencies. There is a limit to the flexibility of such controls, and they are sometimes insufficient. In filmmaking and television production, presence, also known as room tone, or simply room sound, is the "silence" recorded at a location or space when no dialogue is spoken. Presence is similar to Ambience (sound recording), ambience, but is distinguished by a lack of explicit background noise.
