''Cycloclasticus'' is a genus in the phylum Pseudomonadota (Bacteria). Etymology The name ''Cycloclasticus'' derives from:Greek noun ''kuklos'', circle or ring; New Latin adjective ''clasticus'' -''a'' -''um'' (from Greek adjective ''klastos'' -''ē'' -''on'', broken in pieces), breaking; New Latin masculine gender noun ''cycloclasticus'', ring-breaker. Methylophaga
The genus ''Methylophaga'' consists of halophilic methylotrophic members of the ''Gammaproteobacteria'', all of which were isolated from marine or otherwise low water activity environments, such as the surface of marble or hypersaline lakes. Pseudomonadota
Pseudomonadota (synonym Proteobacteria) is a major phylum of Gram-negative bacteria. The renaming of phyla in 2021 remains controversial among microbiologists, many of whom continue to use the earlier names of long standing in the literature.
