Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment
The Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE) is a Polish astronomical project based at the University of Warsaw that runs a long-term variability sky survey (1992–present). The main goals are the detection and classification of variable stars ( pulsating and eclipsing), discovery of microlensing events, dwarf novae, and studies of the structure of the Galaxy and the Magellanic Clouds. Since the project began in 1992, it has discovered a multitude of extrasolar planets, together with the first planet discovered using the transit method (OGLE-TR-56b) and gravitational microlensing. The project has been led by professor Andrzej Udalski since its inception. Description The main targets of the experiment are the Magellanic Clouds and the Galactic Bulge, because of the large number of intervening stars that can be used for microlensing during a stellar transit. Baron Ogle is an abeyant title in the Peerage of England. It was created in 1461 for Robert Ogle. It fell into abeyance in 1691. The Ogles were a prominent Northumbrian family from before the time of the Norman Conquest. They settled at Ogle, Northumberland and in 1341 were granted a licence to fortify their manor house which became known as Ogle Castle. The family included seven Medieval Barons. Their estates fell by marriage to the Cavendish family (later Dukes of Newcastle) following the death of the 7th Baron in 1597. Eugene F. Correia International Airport is located on the Atlantic Ocean coast of Guyana, east of the capital, Georgetown, in the Demerara-Mahaica region. Its county seat is Oregon, and its largest city is Rochelle. Ogle Marbury (August 23, 1882 – October 3, 1973) was an American politician and jurist who served as Chief Judge of the supreme court of the U.S. state of Maryland, the Court of Appeals. Early life and education Marbury was born near Guilford, Howard County, Maryland to Eleanora Brevitt (née MacKenzie) and Reverend Ogle Marbury. He was privately tutored as a youth, and also attended Baltimore City College and Deichmann Gymnasium School. He received his B.A. degree in 1902 from Johns Hopkins University, and his LL.B. degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1904. In 1904, Marbury was admitted to the Maryland Bar and entered into private practice in Prince George's County and Baltimore.
