Off-site Data Protection
In computing, off-site data protection, or vaulting, is the strategy of sending critical data out of the main location (''off'' the main ''site'') as part of a disaster recovery plan. Data is usually transported off-site using removable storage media such as magnetic tape data storage, magnetic tape or optical storage. Data can also be sent electronically via a remote backup service, which is known as ''electronic vaulting'' or ''e-vaulting''. Sending backups off-site ensures systems and servers can be reloaded with the latest data in the event of a disaster, accidental error, or system crash. Sending backups off-site also ensures that there is a copy of pertinent data that isn’t stored on-site. Offsite construction refers to the manufacturing, planning, design, fabrication, and assembly of building elements at a location other than their final installed location to support the rapid speed of, and efficient construction of a permanent structure. Such building elements may be prefabricated offsite in a different location and transported to the site or prefabricated on the construction site and then transported to their final location. Offsite construction is characterized by an integrated planning and supply chain optimization strategy. Offsite manufacturing (OSM), offsite production (OSP) and offsite fabrication (OSF) are used when referring primarily to the factory work proper.{{cite book, last1=Smith, first1=Ryan, title=Offsite Architecture, date=2017, publisher=Routledge, location=Oxon and New York, isbn=978-1-138-82137-8, page=264 Building configurations Off-site construction (like on-site construction) can be used for a variety of purposes including residential, ...
