Music Podcast
A music podcast is a genre of podcasts covering topics related to music and musicians, which often includes reviews, interpretations, new releases, musician interviews, music history, music creation, and music theory. History Music podcasts date back to the dawn of podcasting when former MTV VJ Adam Curry and tech columnist and former TechTV Host John C. Dvorak coined the term podcast. Among the first music podcasts was ''AudioFile Airwav'', a digital audio counterpart to the TechTV music series '' AudioFile'' which featured interviews with popular musicians, digital music trends and music related gear reviews. Created and hosted by Kris Kosach, AudioFile Airwav was initially available only through techtv.com and syndicated on TechTV Radio until it was uploaded by James Kim to the iTunes Music Store in 2005. Adam Curry
Adam Clark Curry (born September 3, 1964) is an American podcaster, announcer, Internet entrepreneur and media personality, known for his stint as a VJ on MTV and being one of the first celebrities to personally create and administer Web sites. Also known for co-hosting the ''No Agenda'' show, in the 2000s, he first became involved in podcasting, and has been called the 'Podfather' because of his efforts. Early broadcast career Curry was born in Arlington, Virginia, but lived in Amstelveen, Netherlands, from 1972 to 1987. After a time working in Dutch pirate radio at Radio Picasso in Amstelveen and in Amsterdam in the early 1980s under the pseudonym "John Holden", he got a break in broadcasting as the host of the Dutch weekly pop-music television program ''Countdown'', and the English version of the same show, which was broadcast on pan-European music channel Music Box. Ahmir Khalib Thompson (born January 20, 1971), known professionally as Questlove (stylized as ), is an American musician, record producer, disc jockey, filmmaker, music journalist, and actor. He is the drummer and joint frontman (with Black Thought) for the hip hop band the Roots. The Roots have been serving as the in-house band for ''The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'' since 2014, having the same role in ''Late Night with Jimmy Fallon''. Questlove is also one of the producers of the cast album of the Broadway musical ''Hamilton''. He is the co-founder of the websites Okayplayer and OkayAfrica. ''Song Exploder'' is a music podcast created by Hrishikesh Hirway, who hosted it from its 2014 inception until late 2018 and again from December 2019 onwards.
