Milonga (music)
Precursor to tango, milonga is a musical genre that originated in the Río de la Plata areas of Argentina, Uruguay and the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. "Milonga is an excited habanera." The original habanera divided into four pulses, in a standard two-four where every note was stressed. In becoming milonga, though, all four notes turned strong, as tempo was doubled. The strength of the first beat weakened the fourth giving an almost waltz-like feel to milonga: one-two-three (four), one-two-three (four). Habanera is a slower, more explicit sounding ''one'', two, ''three''-four. At least one modern tango pianist believes the polka influenced the speeding up of the milonga. Over time, dance steps and other musical influences were added, eventually contributing to the creation of tango. Milonga dance is dancing to milonga music. Technique There are different styles of milonga: ''milonga lisa'' (simple milonga), in which the dancer steps on every beat of the music; and ''milonga con traspié'', in which the dancer uses ''traspiés'' or ''contrapasos'' (changes of weight from one foot to the other and back again in double time or three steps in two beats) to interpret the music. The beat of milonga music is syncopated. It consist of 8 counts with the accents on the first, however it can also sometimes be on the second, additionally the accents are present on the forth, fifth and seventh counts. Thus, dynamics may be danced without having to run fast or without the use of much space. Overall, milonga is danced in a faster pace than tango which makes this dance "unforgiving" regarding mistakes or clumsiness. ''Milonga'' (translation: ''Tango'') is a 1999 Italian giallo film co-written and directed by Emidio Greco. For his performance Giancarlo Giannini won the Globo d'oro for best actor. Plot In one of the most central squares of Rome, Piazza Barberini, the famous TV star Aldo Ruggeri is killed in broad daylight. The commissioner, accompanied by agent Ginevra Scapuzzo, arrives on the spot to start the investigation. After various vicissitudes the commissioner, thanks to a tango listened to on the radio, will be able to connect the facts by discovering the killers. Redenção (album)
Fresno is a Brazilian rock band formed in Porto Alegre in late 1999. As of 2020, members are Lucas Silveira (vocals, bass, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Gustavo Mantovani (lead guitar) and Thiago Guerra ( drums). They already have ten albums, the most recent being "Vou Ter Que Me Virar". Biography 1999-2000: Early days Lucas, Gustavo, Leandro and Pedro met in high school and were part of the student council. After a meeting in late 1999 they had the idea to start a band so they could have fun doing punk versions of pop hits of the time. Lucas and Gustavo played the guitar, Pedro had a drum kit and Leandro would be the singer. In December 4 of that year the band gathered for the first rehearsal session at Pedro's house, in Porto Alegre. That day is regarded as "date of birth" of the band that would later call itself "Democratas" and ultimately "Fresno". In June 2000 there was the annual band festival for that school.
