The Mayor of Mandaue City ( ceb, Alkalde sa Mandaue, fil, Alkalde ng Mandaue) is the head of the Local government of the city. Since the Pre-Hispanic time were chiefs, only two are known Aponoan and Lambuzzan. Not many people are mentioned in the Spanish Expedition chronicles; the former was succeeded by the latter. During the year 1600 when the Spanish subjugated Mandaue Andug was the chief of the settlement. Before there were priests, Capitanes, Tenientes and the Cabeza de Barangay were the local leaders in Spanish regime. Later, in the American commonwealth era of the Philippines the leaders were the President and after the war the title changed to Mayor. Mandaue was only incorporated as a city on June 21, 1969 in the term of Mayor Demetrio Cortes Sr. which led to the signing of the City Charter on August 30, 1969 under Republic Act No 5519. Jonas Cortes
Jonas Cabungcal Cortes (born July 20, 1966) is a Filipino politician serving as the Mayor of Mandaue City since 2019, a position he previously held from 2007 to 2016. He previously served as representative of the sixth district of Cebu from 2016 to 2019. Personal life Cortes is the thirteenth child of the former mayor of Mandaue Demetrio Cortes Sr. and Celestina Alimpangog Cabungcal. He is of Filipino, Spanish and Chinese ancestry. He was born and raised in Centro, Mandaue. Cortes attended St. Joseph's Academy for grade school in 1972-78 and in St Louis School of Mandaue for high school on 1978-82 both in Mandaue. He graduated from Visayas State College of Agriculture in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry. Mandaue (), officially the City of Mandaue ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Mandaue; fil, Lungsod ng Mandaue), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. Alfredo Ouano
Alfredo "Ingko Pedong" Mendoza Ouano (October 14, 1924 – November 7, 2014) was a three term mayor of Mandaue City. He also sat on One Cebu's Council of Elders. His grandest achievement was the Mandaue Reclamation Project now known as a bustling business district of northern Metro Cebu.
