Marketing science is a field that approaches marketing – the understanding of customer needs, and the development of approaches by which they might be fulfilled – predominantly through scientific methods, rather than through tools and techniques common with research in the arts or in humanities. The field of marketing science, in the pursuit of "truths" in marketing, is related to, but more general than marketing research, which is oriented towards a specific product, service or campaign. Before marketing science was formally labeled, its activity appeared as management science within the marketing framework. The interaction between academics and practitioners in marketing science dates back to 1961, with the founding of the Marketing Science Institute. Data aggregation is the compiling of information from databases with intent to prepare combined datasets for data processing. Data Flood
The information explosion is the rapid increase in the amount of published information or data and the effects of this abundance. As the amount of available data grows, the problem of managing the information becomes more difficult, which can lead to information overload. The Online Oxford English Dictionary indicates use of the phrase in a March 1964 ''New Statesman'' article. In marketing, a customer value proposition (CVP) consists of the sum total of benefits which a vendor promises a customer will receive in return for the customer's associated payment (or other value-transfer). Customer Value Management was started by Ray Kordupleski in the 1980s and discussed in his book, Mastering Customer Value Management. A customer value proposition is a business or marketing statement that describes why a customer should buy a product or use a service.
