Mista'arvim
Mista'arvim ( he, מסתערבים; ar, مستعربين, translit=musta'ribīn), also spelled mista'aravim, is the name given to counter-terrorism units of the Israel Defense Forces, Israel Border Police, and Israel Police who operate undercover. Such units are specifically trained to assimilate among the local Arab population. They are commonly tasked with performing intelligence gathering, law enforcement, hostage rescue and counter-terrorism, and to use disguise and surprise as their main weapons. The name is derived from the Arabic "Musta'arabi", meaning "those who live among the Arabs", which refers to the Musta'arabi Jews, Arabic-speaking Jews who lived in the Middle East since the beginning of the Arab rule in the 7th century, prior to the arrival of Ladino-speaking Sephardic Jews following their expulsion from Spain in 1492. Yamas (Israel Border Police Unit)
Yamas ( he, יחידת המסתערבים, ''Yehidat HaMista'arvim'') is a SWAT tier 1 tasked with black operation, clandestine operation, counterterrorism, covert operation, hostage rescue, irregular warfare operation, serving high-risk arrest and search warrants, special operations, special reconnaissance, and VIP protection attached to the Israeli Border Police, but directly subordinate to Shin Bet. A secret unit, known for its undercover counterterrorism operations conducted in civilian Arab disguise within Arab territories. Unit 217, frequently called Duvdevan ( he, דובדבן, lit=cherry), is a ''mistaʽaravim'' unit in the Commando Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces. It is notable for its undercover operations in urban areas, during which its operators often wear civilian clothing to disguise themselves among the local Arab populace. The unit is also known to have highly trained members in both human and mechanical counter-surveillance. Unlike other special forces, they can operate independently in more than one place at a time. Musta'arabi Jews
Musta'arabi Jews (Musta'aribun اليهود المستعربة in Arabic; Musta'arvim מוּסְתערבים in Hebrew) were the Arabic-speaking Jews, largely Mizrahi Jews and Maghrebi Jews, who lived in the Middle East and North Africa prior to the arrival and integration of Ladino-speaking Sephardi Jews of the Iberian Peninsula, following their expulsion from Spain in 1492. Following their expulsion, Sephardi Jewish exiles moved into the Middle East and North Africa (among other countries around the Mediterranean Basin), and settled among the Musta'arabi. In many Arab countries, the Sephardi immigrants and the established Musta'arabi communities maintained separate synagogues and separate religious rituals, but often had a common Chief Rabbinate. Palmach
The Palmach (Hebrew: , acronym for , ''Plugot Maḥatz'', "Strike Companies") was the elite fighting force of the Haganah, the underground army of the Yishuv (Jewish community) during the period of the British Mandate for Palestine. Unit 367, Samson Unit, or Shimshon (), was a special forces unit within the Israeli Defense Forces named after the biblical figure Samson. History Shimshon unit's ''modus operandi'' focused on undercover military operations against Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip. Shimshon was disbanded in 1996 following the Oslo Accords.
