Melotron
Melotron is a futurepop and synthpop band from Germany. In 1995 Andy Krueger, Edgar Slatnow and Kay Hildebrandt left their former band, The Vermin, to form Melotron. The band found success with their first single, "Dein Meister," in 1998. Their 2007 single "Das Herz" charted at no. 81 in the German mainstream charts. Until 2007, Melotron was a band with mostly German-only lyrics (the chorus of the B-Side "2 Young 2 Die" on their inaugural single release, "Dein Meister", was sung in English amid German verses). However, on their album ''Propaganda'', "Broken" is sung entirely in English. Melotron has performed at a number of major electronic and industrial festivals, amongst these the Wave Gotik Treffen festival in 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2012, and the M'era Luna Festival in 2001, 2003, and 2005. In the American television show ''Saturday Night Live'', the recurring sketch "Deep House Dish" uses Melotron's song "Der Kosmonaut" as an opening. Discography Albums *''M ... Zoth Ommog
Zoth Ommog Records was a German Industrial music record label which was owned by the parent label Music Research. The company was established by German music producer Andreas Tomalla (aka Talla 2XLC) in 1989 and later handed over to producer Torben Schmidt. The label released albums for such bands as Leæther Strip, X Marks the Pedwalk, Bigod 20, Lights of Euphoria and Klinik between 1989 and 1999. The company based its name on the fictional character Zoth-Ommog in the Cthulhu Mythos. In the United States, many of the Zoth Ommog artists were released domestically under Cleopatra Records and Metropolis Records. M'era Luna Festival
The M'era Luna is a rock festival that encompasses a number of different styles such as metal, future pop, aggrotech, synthpop, gothic rock, dark wave, and ebm. It is held annually on the second weekend of every August, in Hildesheim, Germany at Flugplatz Hildesheim-Drispenstedt, a former British Army airbase. The M'era Luna includes camping facilities and has two stages: a large rock festival style structure, erected for the show each year, and a former aircraft hangar. With its 20,000–25,000 regular attendants (21,000 in 2005, 23,000 in 2009, 24,000 in 2010) (many flying in via the Hanover airport, with others traveling via road and railway), the M'era Luna is one of the biggest dark music events in Germany. The festival's logo is based on the image of the moon from the 1902 film A Trip to the Moon by French director Georges Méliès. An altered version of the logo was introduced for the 2019 festival. Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Wave Gotik Treffen
The Wave-Gotik-Treffen (WGT; ) is an annual world festival for "dark" music and "dark culture" in Leipzig, Germany. 150+ bands and artists from various backgrounds ( gothic rock, gothic metal, EBM, industrial, noise, darkwave, neo-folk, neo-classical, medieval, experimental, deathrock and punk music being examples) play at several venues throughout the city over four days on Whitsuntide.
