Freischütz
In German folklore, the figure of the Freischütz is a marksman who, by a contract with the devil, has obtained a certain number of bullets destined to hit without fail whatever object he wishes. As the legend is usually told, six of the magic bullets (German: ''Freikugeln'') are thus subservient to the marksman's will, but the seventh is at the absolute disposal of the devil himself. Apel's Freischütz Stories about the Freischütz were especially common in Germany during the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. But the tale became widely circulated in 1810 when Johann August Apel included it as the first tale in the first volume of the ''Gespensterbuch'' ('Book of Ghosts'). Thomas de Quincey translated Apel's tale into English as "The Fatal Marksman" in ''Popular Tales and Romances of the Northern Nations'' (1823), and another translation was published under the title "Der Freischütz; or, The Magic Balls" in George Borrow's ''Tales of the Wild and the Wonderful'' (1825). ' ( J. 277, Op. 77 ''The Marksman'' or ''The Freeshooter'') is a German opera with spoken dialogue in three acts by Carl Maria von Weber with a libretto by Friedrich Kind, based on a story by Johann August Apel and Friedrich Laun from their 1810 collection ''Gespensterbuch''. It premiered on 18 June 1821 at the Schauspielhaus Berlin. It is considered the first German Romantic opera. The opera's plot is mainly based on August Apel's tale "Der Freischütz" from the ''Gespensterbuch'' though the hermit, Kaspar and Ännchen are new to Kind's libretto. That Weber's tunes were just German folk music is a common misconception. Its unearthly portrayal of the supernatural in the famous Wolf's Glen scene has been described as "the most expressive rendering of the gruesome that is to be found in a musical score". The magic bullet is a scientific concept developed by a German Nobel laureate Paul Ehrlich in 1907. [Reprint of "Experimental Researches on Specific Therapy: On Immunity with special Reference to the Relationship between Distribution and Action of Antigens" from ''The Harben Lectures for 1907 of the Royal Institute of Public Health'', London: Lewis, 1908] While working at the Institute of Experimental Therapy (''Institut für experimentelle Therapie''), Ehrlich formed an idea that it could be possible to kill specific Microorganism, microbes (such as bacteria), which cause diseases in the body, without harming the body itself. He named the hypothetical agent as ''Zauberkugel,'' and used the English translation "magic bullet" in The Harben Lectures at London. Single-bullet Theory
The single-bullet theory, often derided and discredited by referring to it as the magic-bullet theory, was introduced by the Warren Commission in its investigation of the Assassination of John F. Kennedy, assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy to explain what happened to the bullet that struck Kennedy in the back and exited through his throat. The hypodermic needle model (known as the hypodermic-syringe model, transmission-belt model, or magic bullet theory) is a model of communication suggesting that an intended message is directly received and wholly accepted by the receiver. The model was originally rooted in 1930s behaviourism and largely considered obsolete for a long time, but big data analytics-based mass customisation has led to a modern revival of the basic idea. The bullet catch is a stage magic illusion in which a magician appears to catch a bullet fired directly at them — often in the mouth, sometimes in the hand or sometimes caught with other items such as a dinner plate. The bullet catch may also be referred to as the bullet trick, defying the bullets or occasionally the gun trick.
