loudquietloud, stylized as LoudQUIETloud, is a 2006 film directed by Steven Cantor and Matthew Galkin. Synopsis Alt-rock legends the Pixies Pixies is an American alternative rock band formed in 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts. Until 2013, the band consisted of Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals) and David Lovering ... broke up just as the style they helped innovate exploded in popularity in the early ‘90s. Featuring intimate looks at the band members and exciting performances, this documentary profiles the band’s 2004 reunion, one of the most triumphant and unexpected returns in the history of music. Matthew Galkin
Matthew Galkin is an American film director and producer, best known for his work in documentaries. He is the founder and CEO of Fairhaven, a New York-based production company founded in 2018. In June 2019, Galkin and Fairhaven entered an overall deal with Industrial Media. Galkin is the executive producer and director of ''Murder In The Bayou'', a 2019 Showtime documentary series based on the New York Times best-seller book written by Ethan Brown about the Jeff Davis 8. In 2018, he executive produced Cultureshock, a limited documentary series about moments that shocked popular culture for A&E. He directed the 2010 HBO documentary ''Kevorkian'', about the controversial right-to-die advocate Jack Kevorkian and his ill-fated 2008 run for Congress. Steven Cantor
Steven Cantor is an American film/television director and film/television producer. Eight of his films have been nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards, with two winning, including the 2022 Outstanding Documentary prize for When Claude Got Shot. While as student in graduate school, Steven was nominated for an Academy Award for his first film, Blood Ties. Notable works include the films Twyla Moves, Citizen Ashe, Hood River, Tent City, USA, Unraveled, No One Dies in Lily Dale, Reporter with Nicholas Kristof, I Am an Animal, What Remains, Loudquietloud: A Film about Pixies, American Masters: Willie Nelson, Devil's Playground, and Dancer. Pixies (band)
Pixies is an American alternative rock band formed in 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts. Until 2013, the band consisted of Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals) and David Lovering (drums). They disbanded acrimoniously in 1993 but reunited in 2004. After Deal left in 2013, Pixies hired Kim Shattuck as a touring bassist; she was replaced that year by Paz Lenchantin, who became a permanent member in 2016. Pixies is associated with the 1990s alternative rock boom, and draws on elements including punk rock and surf music, surf rock. Their music is known for dynamic "loud-quiet-loud" shifts and song structures. Francis is Pixies' primary songwriter; his often surreal lyrics cover offbeat subjects such as extraterrestrials, incest, and biblical violence.
