BR-116 is a federal route of highways of Brazil and the longest highway in the country, with of extension. The road connect Fortaleza, Ceará, one of the largest Northeast Brazil metropolises, to the southern city of Jaguarão, Rio Grande do Sul, in the border with Uruguay. It is also the longest highway in the country to be completely paved. It is considered one of the most important highways in the country, along with BR-101. The highway serves as a connecting route between the northern half of Sumter County and neighboring Greene County. At its west terminus, SR 116 is signed as Merrill Road beginning at the intersection with Interstate 295 (I-295; Jacksonville East Beltway) and SR 113 (Southside Connector) near the St. Johns River. Route 116 is a state highway entirely within Ridgefield, Connecticut that runs from the Ridgefield town center at Route 35 to the New York state line, where New York State Route 116 continues towards the hamlet of North Salem. Route description Route 116 begins in downtown Ridgefield, splitting off from Main Street ( Route 35). While Route 35 heads northeast towards downtown Danbury, Route 116 heads northwest along North Salem Road towards the New York state line. North Salem Road travels through the more rural areas of Ridgefield. Connecticut () is the southernmost state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States.
