List Of Nissan Engines
This is a list of piston engines developed by Nissan Motors. Engine naming convention Nissan uses a straightforward method of naming their automobile engines. The first few letters identify the engine family. The following digits are the displacement in deciliters. Finally, the trailing letters encode the main engine features, and are ordered based on the type of feature. Below is a list of encoded letters, and the engine features they represent. Make note, the first few letters in the engine name that identify the engine family have nothing to do with these encoded letters for the engine features, and should not be confused as such. The encoded letters that represent engine features follow a specific order and not all features are necessarily listed all of the time. The basic, common features follow this general order: ngine family wo-digit engine displacement in deciliters :1 = Camshaft :2 = Fuel delivery :3 = Power delivery :4 = Power adder :5 = 2nd power adder : ...

Internal Combustion Engine
An internal combustion engine (ICE or IC engine) is a heat engine in which the combustion of a fuel occurs with an oxidizer (usually air) in a combustion chamber that is an integral part of the working fluid flow circuit. In an internal combustion engine, the expansion of the high-temperature and high-pressure gases produced by combustion applies direct force to some component of the engine. The force is typically applied to pistons ( piston engine), turbine blades (gas turbine), a rotor (Wankel engine), or a nozzle ( jet engine). This force moves the component over a distance, transforming chemical energy into kinetic energy which is used to propel, move or power whatever the engine is attached to. This replaced the external combustion engine for applications where the weight or size of an engine was more important. The first commercially successful internal combustion engine was created by Étienne Lenoir around 1860, and the first modern internal combustion engine, known ...

Kaizen
is concept referring to business activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. ''Kaizen'' also applies to processes, such as purchasing and logistics, that cross organizational boundaries into the supply chain. It has been applied in healthcare, psychotherapy, life coaching, government, and banking. By improving standardized programs and processes, kaizen aims to eliminate waste and redundancies (lean manufacturing). Kaizen was first practiced in Japanese businesses after World War II, influenced in part by American business and quality-management teachers, and most notably as part of The Toyota Way. It has since spread throughout the world and has been applied to environments outside of business and productivity. Overview The Japanese word means 'change for better', with the inherent meaning of either 'continuous' or 'philosophy' in Japanese dictionaries and in everyday use. The word refers to any ...

Prince G Engine
The Prince G-series engine was the company's only straight-four and straight-six engines which began production in 1955. A number of variations were made, with both OHV and OHC heads. A diesel four-cylinder with was also built, called the D-6. The G series was used in the Skyline, the Laurel, and the Gloria from the 1950s to the early 1970s. Note that, prior to its merger with Prince, Nissan also made a G series of engines. These are unrelated engines and are documented at the Nissan G engine page. The source of the listed information is the corresponding article at Japanese Wikipedia. Flat-2 In 1956, Prince developed a flat-2 engine, the FG2D, for their DPSK (later CPSK) concept car. It displaced 601 cc and produced . The engine suffered excessive vibration and noise issues and was replaced with the FG4C engine. Flat-4 Prince developed the FG4C, a flat-four displacing 599 cc and producing , as a replacement for the FG2D. The FG4C was used in the 1957 CPSK concept. Strai ...

Nissan D Engine
The Nissan D-series is an overhead valve series of engines which first appeared in 1964, with the 1.05-liter D engine. Similar to a number of British and other Datsun engines, it may have been derived from an Ohta design which also found its way into some Kurogane vehicles - both of these companies were swallowed up by Nissan in the early 1960s. D (D10) The D type engine was introduced for the 1964 update of the Datsun Cablight (A122). This engine displaces and is of an overhead valve design. Its internal dimensions are unknown, but the displacement is the same as the E-10 engine made by Tokyu Kogyo Kurogane from 1959 until 1962; this engine was originally developed by Ohta. The E-10 engine has a bore and stroke of ; this is the same stroke as in the latter D11 engine. The D engine, unlike other Nissan engines of the period, also has its distributor mounted between the second and third cylinders rather than towards the back of the engine. Kurogane was taken over by Nissan in 1962 a ...

Datsun Sidevalve Engine
Nissan's sidevalve engines were based on the Austin 7 engine, with which they shared the stroke. The series began with a 495 cc iteration for the 1930 Datson Type 10 and ended with the 860 cc Type 10 engine which was built until 1964 for light commercial vehicles. Later versions were called the B-1, before being replaced in 1957 by the OHV Nissan C engine that was essentially a de-stroked version of another Austin design this time the BMC B-Series. DAT 495 cc The displacement of the original version was kept beneath a half litre since driver's licenses were not required for such cars after a ministerial decision of 1930. The engine was a square design, with a bore and stroke of . Maximum power was at 3700 rpm. ;Applications: *1930-1931 Datson Type 10 *1932 Datsun Type 11 DAT 747 cc For 1933, the rule regarding drivers' licenses was changed so that cars of up to 750 cc could be driven without a license. Accordingly, Datsun modified their engine ...

Straight-4
A straight-four engine (also called an inline-four) is a four-cylinder piston engine where cylinders are arranged in a line along a common crankshaft. The vast majority of automotive four-cylinder engines use a straight-four layout (with the exceptions of the flat-four engines produced by Subaru and Porsche) and the layout is also very common in motorcycles and other machinery. Therefore the term "four-cylinder engine" is usually synonymous with straight-four engines. When a straight-four engine is installed at an inclined angle (instead of with the cylinders oriented vertically), it is sometimes called a slant-four. Between 2005 and 2008, the proportion of new vehicles sold in the United States with four-cylinder engines rose from 30% to 47%. By the 2020 model year, the share for light-duty vehicles had risen to 59%. Design A four-stroke straight-four engine always has a cylinder on its power stroke, unlike engines with fewer cylinders where there is no power stroke occu ...

Nissan MR Engine
The Nissan MR engine family consists of straight-four 16-valve all-aluminium automobile engines with variable valve timing co-developed by Renault and Nissan. Renault calls it the M engine. Other noteworthy features of this engine family include acoustically equal runner lengths and a tumble control valve for the intake manifold, a "silent" timing chain, mirror finished crankshaft and camshaft journals, and offset cylinder placement in an attempt for increased efficiency. The MR engine family features 'under stress' manufacture, meaning while the block is being bored, a torque plate puts the block under stress. The block becomes temporarily distorted until the head is torqued onto it, at which point the block is pulled into the correct shape. __TOC__ MR16DDT (Renault M5Mt) The MR16DDT is a DIG-T ( Direct Injection Gasoline-Turbocharged) inline-four 16-valve engine, with a bore x stroke of .
