The African Boxing Union (ABU; French: ) is a not-for-profit regional sanctioning body that awards regional boxing titles in the African region. It is a boxing federation within the World Boxing Council (WBC), being affiliated with them since 1974. The president of the African Boxing Union is Houcine Houichi. Charles Adamu
Charles Adamu (born 8 May 1977) is a Ghanaian professional boxer. As an amateur he represented Ghana in the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games, where he won a bronze medal, and in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, where he reached the second round. As a professional he is a two-time holder of the Commonwealth super middleweight title. Professional career Adamu's professional debut came in August 2001 with a victory over Bob Abiro in Kaneshie, Ghana. He fought seven more times, winning on each occasion, before travelling to the United Kingdom on 1 August 2003, where he defeated England's Matthew Barney for the Commonwealth super middleweight title. Thulani Malinga (born 11 December 1955) is a South African former professional boxer who competed from 1981 to 2000, and held the WBC super-middleweight title twice between 1996 and 1998. Joseph Lubega
Joseph Lubega (born January 1, 1982) is an Ugandan professional boxer. As an amateur, he participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics for his country. There he was stopped in the first round of the middleweight division by Thailand's eventual bronze medal winner Prasathinphimai Suriya. Two years earlier Lubega won the silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in the light heavyweight division. He qualified for the Athens Games by winning the silver medal at the 1st AIBA African 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Casablanca, Morocco.
