Line Of Succession To The Jordanian Throne
Line of succession to the Jordanian throne is the line of people who are eligible to succeed to the throne of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The succession is regulated by Article 28 of the Constitution of Jordan. Succession rules The throne passes according to agnatic primogeniture, which can be bypassed by decree. The only people eligible to succeed are mentally sound Muslim men who are legitimate and agnatic descendants of Abdullah I of Jordan, born to Muslim parents. The king has the right to appoint one of his brothers as heir apparent. If the king dies without son or appointed brother, the throne devolves upon the person whom the National Assembly selects from amongst the descendants of Hussein bin Ali, King of Hejaz, the founder of the Arab Revolt. A person can be barred from succession by Royal Decree on the ground of unsuitability. His descendants would not be automatically excluded. Hussein bin Abdullah ( ar, الحسين بن عبدالله, ''Al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbdullāh''; born 28 June 1994) is Crown Prince of Jordan as the son of King Abdullah II. As a member of the Hashemite dynasty, the royal family of Jordan since 1921, he is a 42nd-generation direct descendant of Muhammad. Prince Asem bin Nayef ( ar, الأمير عاصم بن نايف; born 27 April 1948) is the son of Prince Nayef bin Abdullah (a younger son of Abdullah I of Jordan) and Princess Mihrimah Sultan (granddaughter of Sultan Mehmed V of the Ottoman Empire). Prince Nayef Bin Abdullah
Prince Nayef bin Abdullah (14 November 1914 – 12 October 1983) was the younger son of King Abdullah I of Jordan, by his second wife, Suzdil Khanum. Nayef attended Victoria College in Cairo. He underwent Military training in Turkey, being assigned as the honorary Aide-de-Camp of the Turkish President Ismet Inönü between April 1939 until shortly before the outbreak of World War II in September the same year. He became regent of Jordan on 20 July 1951, following the assassination of Abdullah, because his older half-brother King Talal was reportedly suffering from poor health. Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad (born 15 October 1966) is a Jordanian prince and a professor of philosophy. Prince Muhammad bin Talal (2 October 1940 – 29 April 2021) was a member of the Jordanian royal family. He was the second son of King Talal of Jordan and the younger brother of King Hussein of Jordan. Prince Hashim bin Hussein (born 10 June 1981) is the younger of the two sons of King Hussein and Queen Noor of Jordan.
