Professor Hershel Layton
is the eponymous main protagonist of the ''Professor Layton'' series, created by Level-5, in which he and his apprentice Luke Triton investigate mysteries while solving various brain teasers. He also appears in an animated movie, ''Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva'', and has featured in manga and novels that have not been released in English. His birth name was revealed to be Theodore Bronev in '' Azran Legacy''. Professor Layton is based on the idea of an English gentleman, and is a professor of archaeology at the fictional Gressenheller University in London. He was designed by Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, who used Sherlock Holmes, Indiana Jones and fellow video game character Phoenix Wright as inspiration for his creation. Layton is an unincorporated community in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. History Layton is the former site of a large brickworks, due to local deposits of flint clay. It was also here that the Washington Run Railroad connected to the B&O Railroad. According to historian Franklin Ellis, "The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company was the first corporation which made any actual movement towards the construction of a railway line through the valleys of the Youghiogheny and Monongahela rivers." In 1826, the company secured approval from the Pennsylvania General Assembly to build a railroad from Baltimore, Maryland through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania "to the Ohio River." The company was directed by legislators to complete its work within fifteen years. Layton, Florida
Layton is a city on the island of Long Key in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 184 at the 2010 census. As of 2018, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau was 189. History of Layton In the late 19th century, Long Key was used as a coconut plantation. By 1910, Layton was becoming famous as a fishing destination, thanks in part to promotion by sports writer Zane Grey. However, the developing tourist infrastructure on Long Key, including a station on the Overseas Railroad, was largely destroyed by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. After World War II, Mary and Del Layton (born 1906), who ran a grocery business in Miami, bought on Long Key and started developing the property as "Layton's Long Key Fishing Camp", which grew substantially over the succeeding years. Layton Station (FrontRunner)
Layton station is a FrontRunner commuter rail station in Layton, Utah. It is operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). Description The station is located at 150 South Main Street ( SR-126) on approximately 12.5 acres of land and is easily accessed from I-15 by way of the new Layton Parkway interchange. The station is near the south end of Layton's historic downtown area, which had suffered from a hard-to-access location in a highly acute wedge bounded by I-15 on the northeast and the railroad tracks on the southwest. The railroad tracks have also presented enough of a barrier that the area west of the station and the tracks is still undeveloped despite its proximity to the historic downtown. Layton is a district and electoral ward of the town of Blackpool in England. The ward population at the 2011 census was 6,845. Geography Located roughly in Blackpool's geographical centre (although some distance from the coastal business district), Layton accounts for a relatively large part of the town's total area. Layton is bounded by the districts of Bispham (to the north), Whitegate (to the west), Grange Park (to the east) and Marton (to the south). Layton railway station (formerly ''Bispham railway station'' ) is on the Blackpool North to Preston railway line, in Lancashire, England, serving the Blackpool suburbs of Layton and Bispham. It is managed by Northern and is unstaffed. History The railway line to , which was originally a branch off the line between and , was opened by the Preston and Wyre Railway (PWR) on 29 April 1846. The PWR was taken over jointly by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (LYR) and the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) in 1849, its title being amended to Preston and Wyre Joint Railway (PWJR).
