Lakefront liberals is a voting bloc in the city of Chicago that was prominent in the 1970s and 1980s. Description Lakefront liberals are described as geographically residing along the lakefront of Chicago in neighborhoods such as Lake View, Chicago, Lake View and Lincoln Park, Chicago, Lincoln Park. Some included the South Side lakefront neighborhood Hyde Park, Chicago, Hyde Park as another area of Chicago where they occupied. They are predominantly white professionals. Many of the members of the coalition were born during the baby boom. Their beliefs included "good government" and racial equality. A voting bloc is a group of voters that are strongly motivated by a specific common concern or group of concerns to the point that such specific concerns tend to dominate their voting patterns, causing them to vote together in elections. The 2019 Chicago mayoral election was the 2019 edition of the quadrennial elections held to determine the Mayor of the City of Chicago, Illinois. The election was held on February 26, 2019. Lori Lightfoot
Lori Elaine Lightfoot (born August 4, 1962) is an American attorney and politician serving since 2019 as the 56th mayor of Chicago. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Before becoming mayor, Lightfoot worked in private legal practice as a partner at Mayer Brown and held various government positions in Chicago. Most notably, she served as president of the Chicago Police Board and chair of the Chicago Police Accountability Task Force. The city of Chicago, Illinois held a nonpartisan mayoral election on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Incumbent Mayor Richard Michael Daley, a member of the Democratic Party who had been in office since 1989, did not seek a seventh term as mayor. This was the first election since 1947 in which an incumbent mayor of Chicago did not seek reelection. Candidates needed to collect 12,500 petition signatures by November 22, 2010 to qualify for a place on the ballot. April 5, 2011 was scheduled to be a runoff election date if no candidate received an absolute majority. Rahm Emanuel won the race for mayor with more than 55% of the vote.
