KLO-FM
KLO-FM (103.1 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Coalville, Utah, and serving the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. It airs a classic alternative radio format, known as "103.1 The Wave," and it is owned by Capital Broadcasting. The radio studios and offices are at the 257 Tower in Downtown Salt Lake City. KLO-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 89,000 watts. (The maximum for most FM stations is 100,000 watts.) The transmitter is atop Humpy Peak, about 21 miles (34 km) east of Coalville. It also operates several booster stations on 103.1 MHz around Northern Utah. History Modern rock (1983-1992) This station began in 1983, licensed to Ogden, Utah, and broadcasting on 95.5 FM. KMES
KMES (1430 kHz) is a non-commercial AM radio station licensed to Ogden, Utah, and serving the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The station is owned by El Sembrador Ministries and carries Spanish-language Catholic radio programming from its ESNE Radio network. KMES operates at 25,000 watts by day and 5,000 watts at night, using a four-tower array directional antenna. KMES's transmitter is near the Great Salt Lake in Layton, Utah. All four of KMES's towers are different heights, which is unusual. History KMES signed on as KFUR on January 28, 1925, making it Utah's third-oldest radio station. The call sign was changed to KLO in April 1929. In 1934, the ''Ogden Standard-Examiner'' purchased the station. The Korea Liaison Office (KLO) was an American military intelligence unit composed primarily of South Koreans. It operated between June 1, 1949 and July 1951. The agency was founded and operated by the United States Army, but most of its agents were South Korean. Many of its early agents came from the right-wing group the White Shirts Society. The KLO conducted a wide array of intelligence gathering and clandestine operations, including training and sending spies to North Korea. After the outbreak of the Korean War, it began conducting more guerrilla operations. Lhoba People
Lhoba (English translation: ; ; bo, ལྷོ་པ།) is any of a diverse amalgamation of Sino-Tibetan-speaking tribespeople living in and around Pemako, a region in southeastern Tibet including Mainling, Medog and Zayü counties of Nyingchi and Lhünzê County of Shannan, Tibet. In 1965 the Chinese government officially recognised Lhoba as one of the 56 ethnic groups in China. Lhobas are the smallest ethnic minority in China. Lhobas, with respect to the Chinese perception of Southern Tibet (administered by India as Arunachal Pradesh), have been part of Chinese documentary films and articles.
