Kulish ( uk, Куліш, russian: Кули́ш, pl, Kulisz) is a surname of Ukrainian origin. In the Ukrainian language ''kulish'' means "millet porridge". The Russian variant of this dish, ''kulesh'' ( ru , куле́ш , translation = kasha, gruel) should be differentiated from ''kulesha'' (maize-flour porridge). Mykola Kulish
Mykola Hurovych Kulish ( uk, Микола Гурович Куліш) (19 December 1892 – 3 November 1937) was a Ukrainian prose writer, playwright, pedagogue, veteran of World War I, and Red Army veteran. He is considered to be one of the lead figures of the Executed Renaissance. Biography Kulish was born in the village of Chaplynka, which in his letters he called Chaplyn. From age 9 he studied in a parish church and school. From 1905 Kulish studied at the Oleshky municipal eight-year school. Here he met with Ivan Dniprovsky. In 1908 he enrolled into the Oleshky pro-gymnasium which was closed down before he could graduate. During his school years he published several short verses and epigrams in students' hand-written magazines which gave him a certain degree of fame among his peers. Kiril Jacob Kulish (born February 16, 1994) is an American actor, singer and dancer who is best known for portraying the title role in the original American production of ''Billy Elliot the Musical'', which earned him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, making him one of the youngest winners of the award. Karpoor Chandra Kulish (20 March 1926 – 17 January 2006) was the founder of Rajasthan Patrika, a Hindi language newspaper of Rajasthan, India. Born in Jain family, State Rajasthan Soda village in Malpura tehsil in Tonk district in 1926 he started his career in journalism as an employee in a newspaper. On 7 March 1956, Kulish started his own newspaper, which became no. 1 in Rajasthan. He is best remembered for his fearless journalism. His family consists of his wife, two sons and one daughter. Kulish retired from Rajasthan Patrika on 20 March 1986. Literary works Among his literary works, "America Ek Vihangam Drishti" and "Mein Dekhta Chala Gaya" gained a lot of recognition.
