Implications Of Divorce
Divorce affects the couple’s children in both the short and the long term. After divorce, the couple often experiences effects including, decreased levels of happiness, change in economic status, and emotional problems. The effects on children include academic, behavioral, and psychological problems. Studies suggest that children from divorced families are more likely to exhibit such behavioral issues than those from non-divorced families. Linda Waite analyzed the relationship between marriage, divorce, and happiness using the National Survey of Family and Households and found that unhappily married families who had divorced were no happier than those who had stayed together. Linda J. Waite is a sociologist and social demographer. She is the George Herbert Mead Distinguished Service Professor of Sociology at the University of Chicago. In 2018, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Family disruption is a term referring to events that disrupt the structure of individual families. Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Stroke
A stroke is a medical condition in which poor blood flow to the brain causes cell death. There are two main types of stroke: ischemic, due to lack of blood flow, and hemorrhagic, due to bleeding. Oxytocin
Oxytocin (Oxt or OT) is a peptide hormone and neuropeptide normally produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary. It plays a role in social bonding, reproduction, childbirth, and the period after childbirth. Oxytocin is released into the bloodstream as a hormone in response to sexual activity and during labour. It is also available in pharmaceutical form. In either form, oxytocin stimulates uterine contractions to speed up the process of childbirth. Constance Ahrons
Constance Ruth Ahrons (April 16, 1937 - November 29, 2021) was an American psychotherapist. She was an early advocate of collaborative divorce. Biography Constance Ruth Ahrons was born on April 16, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York to immigrants Jacob and Estelle Ahrons. She attended Upsala College but dropped out when she married lawyer Jac Weiseman and had a baby. After reading ''The Feminine Mystique'', she returned to Upsala and graduated in 1964. In 1967, she received her master's degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin. In 1967, she married therapist Morton Perlmutter. Ahrons received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1973. She took a professorship in sociology at the University of Southern California in 1984. In 1996 she was the director of the Marriage and Family Therapy Training Program at USC. She taught there until 2001.
