Greg Iles (born 1960) is a novelist who lives in Mississippi. He has published seventeen novels and one novella, spanning a variety of genres. Early life Iles was born in 1960 in Stuttgart, West Germany, where his physician father ran the US Embassy Medical Clinic. He was raised in Natchez, Mississippi, the setting of many of his novels. After attending Trinity Episcopal Day School, he graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1983. Career Iles spent several years as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter in the band Frankly Scarlet. He quit the band after he was married and began working on his first novel, ''Spandau Phoenix'', a thriller about Nazi war criminal Rudolf Hess. ''Spandau Phoenix'' was published in 1993. Nikki Iles
Nikki Anne Iles (née Burnham; born 16 May 1963) is a British jazz composer, pianist and educator. Early life Iles was born in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, on 16 May 1963. She started her musical education at primary school, where she learnt to play the harmonica and the clarinet, and at eleven years old she won a junior exhibition at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied clarinet and piano from 1974 to 1981. She became a member of the Bedfordshire Youth Jazz Orchestra. She went on to the Leeds College of Music (1981–1984). Later life and career After graduating from the Leeds College of Music, she decided to settle in Yorkshire. After marrying trumpeter Richard Iles, she changed her surname from Burnham. Ray Kruse Iles is a biomedical scientist who was head of the Williamson Laboratory for Molecular Oncology at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. Career Iles has a particular interest in the interface between rational processing, emotional motivation and endocrinology. He co-founded the ELK-Health Foundation, with psychotherapist Tadhg Ó Séaghdha, in 2004. Richard Iles (born 1962 in Birmingham, England) is a jazz trumpeter. As a member of the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra, he gained valuable experience in jazz. After leaving the Leeds College of Music in 1980 he became a founding member of the Creative Jazz Orchestra, performing with Kenny Wheeler, Mike Gibbs, Anthony Braxton, Vince Mendoza, Peter Erskine, and Bill Frisell. He worked with the Northern Underground Orchestra led by Tim Garland and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra directed by Tommy Smith. Albert Kitchener Iles (9 October 1914 – 30 November 1979) was a professional association footballer who played in The Football League for Bristol Rovers prior to the outbreak of World War II. Football career Iles began his footballing career playing in the Southern League for Tunbridge Wells Rangers. His prolific scoring record at that level earned him a professional contract with Bristol Rovers, signed on 24 September 1937. He immediately adjusted to the standard of football in Division 3 (South) of The Football League, and ended the 1937–38 season as ''The Pirates top goalscorer with 14 goals from 31 games.
