Torino Esposizioni
Torino Esposizioni is an exhibition hall and convention centre in Turin, Italy which was primarily completed in 1948, designed by Pier Luigi Nervi. The building is made with primarily ''ferrocemento'' and glass. Ferrocemento is a form of concrete construction made with thin cross-sections of concrete and metal wires (reinforcement) with re-usable forms, which Nervi pioneered in Italy and elsewhere. 2006 Olympics The ''Torino Esposizioni'' was converted into a temporary ice rink to host a number of ice hockey events at the 2006 Winter Olympics along with Palasport Olimpico. The temporary arena holds 4,320 people. The boards in the hockey rink are stiffer than in a permanent facility, while the glass has more give. The facility was converted into an ice rink by laying a sand base and refrigeration pipes into the base, and then freezing water ice atop the substrate. Paul Rosen
Paul Rosen (born April 26, 1960) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey goalie and motivational speaker from Thornhill, Ontario. Career Rosen suffered a leg injury during a hockey game as a youth, and the resulting damage, infections, and pain to his leg plagued him for years until his lower leg was amputated at age 39. During rehabilitation, Rosen joined the Canadian National Sledge hockey team and participated in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Paralympics. Rosen was the oldest rookie in the history of the Paralympic Winter Games when he made his debut at 41. At the 2006 Games in Torino, Rosen and the Canadian team won the sledge hockey gold medal. In January 2007, Rosen made headlines across Canada when his Paralympic gold medal was stolen during an autographing session with fans in Toronto. Atle Haglund (born 10 April 1964) is a Norwegian ice sledge hockey player and ice sledge speed racer. He lost both his legs in a traffic accident at the age of eight. During the 1984 Winter Paralympics, Haglund participated in four disciplines of ice sledge speed racing. He won a gold in the 1,000 meter, and a silver in the 100 meter. Helge Bjørnstad (born 14 October 1971) is a Norwegian ice sledge hockey player. As a member of the Norwegian ice sledge hockey team he has three silver (1994, 2002, 2006) from the Paralympic Games. At the 1998 Paralympic Games the team took the gold medal. He took the bronze medal with the Norwegian team at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada.
