Alice Instone (born 4 June 1975) is an English artist. She is known for making work concerned with gender, personal narrative and the similarities that bind us together; frequently collaborating with well-known public figures. Early life and career Instone was born in 1975 and grew up in East Sussex. She studied English at King's College London and history of art at The Courtauld Institute of Art. She worked as an English teacher and for the advertising agencies WCRS and J. Walter Thompson before becoming an artist in 2005. Art Instone's work often uses shared behaviours, emotions, associations and memories – from our to-do lists, to our shoes, to memories of our grandmothers – to hold a mirror to both our individual psyches and our collective unconscious. Samuel Instone
Sir Samuel Instone (16 August 1878 – 9 November 1937) was a British shipping and aviation entrepreneur and the founder of the Instone Air Line. Personal history Instone was born in Gravesend, Kent, the eldest of three brothers born to Adolphe Instone and Maria Jacob. His father was born Adolphe Einstein in Fellheim, Bavaria, Germany. He was educated at Tunbridge Wells and in the French port city of Boulogne-sur-Mer, where he began his business career at age 15. He came to Cardiff in Wales in 1908 to work for a shipping company as a manager. With his brother, Theodore Instone, he went into business as a coal factor in 1908, and in 1914 bought the ship, Collivaud from Morels. After World War I, the brothers owned ten vessels shipping coal from the South Wales valleys. It was during this period that Samuel diversified into coal mining with the acquisition of the Bedwas colliery. Sam Instone (born 3 August 1977) is a British businessman who is the founder and current chief executive of AES International. This organization became the fastest growing UK financial services business between 2008 and 2012 and was the winner of Sunday Times/Virgin Fast Track United Kingdom's Best Management Team Award. In the wake of the financial crisis, he is well known for promoting the mission statement 'Positive Change' as a means for the financial services sector to get better consumer, employee and corporate outcomes through the adoption of stronger core values, regulatory governance and transparency.
