Indy (software)
Indy is a music discovery tool for computers with an Internet connection. It uses collaborative filtering to automatically download music the user is likely to enjoy listening to. Indy is similar to iRATE radio, but does not include a built-in file manager. Indy automatically downloads music from public websites and continuously plays new titles. The user can rate the titles during or after playback. These ratings are then matched against the tastes of other listeners, and newly downloaded titles are meant to be more likely to be enjoyable to the listener. Every track can be given a rating from 1 to 5 stars. If the song is still playing when the user assigns the score, a rating lower than 3 stars skips to the next title. Indy's user interface is highly simplified. The makers of the program recommend to only use Indy to discover music, and to utilize other applications to organize and repeatedly listen to it. Indy is written in Java (programming language), Java and therefore runs on ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Indy (gene)
Indy, short for I'm not dead yet, is a gene found in the fruit fly ''Drosophila melanogaster'', an important model organism. Mutant versions of this gene have doubled the average life span of fruit flies in at least one set of experiments, but this result has been subject to controversy. Both Indy proteins are sodium sulfate symporters. Its name originates from a well-known comic line in '' Monty Python and the Holy Grail''. Reduced expression of this gene in ''Drosophila melanogaster'' flies and ''C. elegans'' worms () modeled the effects on obesity and diabetes of caloric reduction in primates such as humans. A similar effect was seen with SLC13A5 (mIndy) knockouts of mice. Indy Grab
An Indy grab, also known as an Indy air, is an aerial skateboarding, snowboarding and kitesurfing trick during which the rider grabs their back hand on the middle of their board, between their feet, on the side of the board where their toes are pointing, while turning backside. This trick is done only backside; the same maneuver done while turning front side, is called a front side air. The Indy grab is a generic skateboarding trick that has been performed since the late 1970s. This trick is performed mainly while vert skating, e.g. on halfpipes. Although this move can be done on flat land, it is much easier on a ramp. The Indy grab is one of the basic tricks in vert skating and is usually combined with spins, kickflips and heelflips. The Indy air was originally called the Gunnair, which was invented by Gunnar Haugo in 1977.Skateboarder magazine, August 1978, Volume 5 Number 1, page 101.
