Carlo Montagnese (born July 29, 1987), known professionally as Illangelo, is a Canadian record producer, songwriter, musician and mixing engineer from Calgary, Alberta, who came to attention as long-time collaborator of the Weeknd. A Grammy Award winner, his work includes Post Malone's "I Fall Apart", Fall Out Boy " The Last of the Real Ones", Lykke Li, M.I.A., MØ, executive production of the Weeknd's 2011 mixtapes, the 2012 compilation album from the Weeknd titled ''Trilogy'' along with singles from rappers Wiz Khalifa's "Remember You", Drake's "Crew Love", Ricky Hil's "Nomads", (all featuring the Weeknd), and remixes such as Lady Gaga's "Marry the Night (The Weeknd and Illangelo remix)" and Florence and the Machine's "Shake It Out (The Weeknd remix)". A mixing engineer (or simply mix engineer) is responsible for combining ("mixing") different sonic elements of an auditory piece into a complete rendition (also known as "final mix" or "mixdown"), whether in music, film, or any other content of auditory nature. The finished piece, recorded or live, must achieve a good balance of properties, such as volume, pan positioning, and other effects, while resolving any arising frequency conflicts from various sound sources. These sound sources can comprise the different musical instruments or vocals in a band or orchestra, dialogue or foley in a film, and more.
