Historical Society
A historical society (sometimes also preservation society) is an organization dedicated to preserving, collecting, researching, and interpreting historical information or items. Originally, these societies were created as a way to help future generations understand their heritage. Historical societies vary in specialization, with focuses ranging from specific geographical areas such as countries or towns, universities, railways, ethnic and religious groups, to genealogy, pioneer history, and the preservation of antiques or historic buildings. Often, many of these organizations ensure that historic architecture is preserved/restored and period houses are maintained for tours open to the public. Naval Historical Society Of Australia
The Naval Historical Society of Australia offers research facilities to its membership, which is open to all with an interest in the subject. South Australia Police Historical Society
The South Australia Police Historical Society Incorporated is a volunteer-based incorporated association with the aim of preserving and promoting the history of the South Australia Police and of law enforcement in South Australia. Foundation The society was founded in 1977. For some years it occupied rooms at the former Mounted Police Barracks, North Terrace, Adelaide. It is currently based at the Thebarton Police Barracks complex, 1 Gaol Road, Adelaide. The society works closely with the South Australia Police (SAPOL) and ever since its foundation the serving Commissioner of Police has agreed to hold the position of honorary patron. Membership is open to all, police and non-police. Kangaroo Island Pioneers Association
The Kangaroo Island Pioneers Association, is a not for profit history organisation in South Australia. Established in 1984, the Kangaroo Island Pioneer Association (K.I.P.A.) is committed to determining, preserving and promoting Kangaroo Island’s rich pioneer history. It seeks to honour the presence and achievements of the pioneers in the establishment of the Colony of South Australia. Membership is open to anyone who is a descendant of pioneers who arrived or settled prior to, or after the establishment of the first settlement on 27 July 1836; soldier settlers and their descendants; and all persons interested in exploring and promoting Kangaroo Island's history. One of its objectives is to research, interpret and publicise the history behind the Old Mulberry Tree at Reeves Point, the ship "Duke of York" and other early immigrant ships. Royal Historical Society Of Queensland
The Royal Historical Society of Queensland (RHSQ) is a historical society founded in Brisbane, Australia in 1913. It promotes the study of Australian history especially that of Queensland and adjacent Pacific islands. It maintains an important collection and catalogue of historical research materials and organises exhibitions of those materials. It organises meetings, lectures and conferences where research is presented and publishes these proceedings and other scholarly papers in its journal and other publications. Historical Society Of The Northern Territory
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory is a historical society founded in Darwin, Australia in 1964. Major objectives of the Society include (1) the study of the history of the Northern Territory of Australia; (2) encouraging the preservation of the Northern Territory's historical relics and records by their deposit with an appropriate national or local authority, but not with the Society (which does not maintain archives or collections); (3) promoting lectures, discussions, excursions and exhibitions relating to the history of the Northern Territory; and (4) providing an avenue for publishing on the history of the Northern Territory in the Society's journal or as an occasional paper or book. St George (Sydney)
The St George region of Sydney is part of the southern suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The area includes all the suburbs in the local government area of Georges River Council and the part of Bayside Council which was Rockdale City prior to 2016. The eastern boundary of the district is Lady Robinson Beach on Botany Bay.
