Leo Hepp
Leo Philipp Franz Hepp (15 August 1907 – 24 October 1987) was a German military officer, who served as a high-ranking signals officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II and as a lieutenant general in the Bundeswehr after the war. Early life and education Hepp was born in Ulm in Bavaria, the son of military veterinarian Dr. Leo Hepp (1871–1950). He completed his secondary education at Karlsgymnasium in Stuttgart, taking his ''Abitur'' in the spring of 1925. Career Pre-war After taking his ''Abitur'' earlier in 1925, Hepp enlisted in the Reichswehr and was assigned to Signals Detachment 5 in Bad Cannstatt. After attending the Infantry School in Dresden and Artillery School in Jüterbog, he was commissioned as a Leutnant in Signals Detachment 5 and a few years later he was promoted to Oberleutnant. Anna Hepp
Anna Hepp (born 1977 in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German filmmaker, artist and photographer. Life and work From 1996 to 1998 Anna Hepp studied education and philosophy at the University of Essen. In 1998 she started an apprenticeship as a photographer, which she completed with a certificate in 2001. Since 2001 Anna Hepp has been working as a freelance and employed photographer. In 2003 she began her studies of audiovisual media at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, which she finished with distinction in 2009. Her diploma film ''A Day and an Eternity '' (Ein Tag und eine Ewigkeit) received numerous festival awards, among others in China. The short film also received the "valuable" rating from the German Deutsche Film- und Medienbewertung (FBW). Anna Hepp's second film, the documentary ''Turkish Kraut'' (Rotkohl und Blaukraut) celebrated its world premiere at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival in 2011. Johann Adam Philipp Hepp
Johann Adam Philipp Hepp (26 October 1797, in Kaiserslautern – 5 February 1867, in Frankfurt am Main) was a German physician and lichenologist. He studied medicine at the University of Würzburg, and from 1826 worked as a doctor in Neustadt an der Haardt. Because of his activities during the German revolutionary period of 1848–49, he was forced to move to Switzerland, where he lived in exile for the rest of his life. In Switzerland he devoted his time to lichenological research, and in 1857 published a work on European lichens titled ''Die Flechten Europas in getrockneten mikroskopisch untersuchten Exemplaren mit Beschreibung und Abbildung ihrer Sporen''. He died on 5 February 1867 while visiting his daughter in Frankfurt. Klaus Hepp
Klaus Hepp (born 11 December 1936) is a German-born Swiss theoretical physicist working mainly in quantum field theory. Hepp studied mathematics and physics at Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and at the Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) in Zurich, where, in 1962, with Res Jost as thesis first advisor and Markus Fierz as thesis second advisor, he received a doctorate for the thesis ("Kovariante analytische Funktionen“) and at ETH in 1963 attained the rank of Privatdozent. From 1966 until his retirement in 2002 he was professor of theoretical physics there. From 1964 to 1966 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Hepp was also Loeb Lecturer at Harvard and was at the IHÉS near Paris. Hepp worked on relativistic quantum field theory, quantum statistical mechanics, and theoretical laser physics. Dr. Ferenc Hepp (November 3, 1909 in Békés, Hungary – November 27, 1980) was a basketball administrator. He is considered "the father of Hungarian basketball". He became the president of the Hungarian Basketball Federation in 1954 and was a member of the FIBA Central Board in the 1950s and 1960s. He was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor in 1981. The Hep-Hep riots from August to October 1819 were pogroms against Ashkenazi Jews, beginning in the Kingdom of Bavaria, during the period of Jewish emancipation in the German Confederation. The antisemitic communal violence began on August 2, 1819, in Würzburg and soon reached the outer regions of the German Confederation. Many Jews were injured and much Jewish property was destroyed. Historical background The riots took place in a period of heightened political and social tension, shortly following the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 and the great famine of 1816-17, and on the eve of the repressive Carlsbad Decrees.
