A hoverbike (or hovercycle) is a vehicle that can hover, resembling a flying motorbike, having at least two propulsive portions—one in front of and one behind the driver. Malloy Hoverbike
The Malloy Hoverbike is a single-seater turbo-fan powered, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) quadrocopter developed in 2006 by New Zealand inventor Chris Malloy. The Hoverbike has two forward and two aft-mounted vertical propellers each enclosed in a hoop nacelle. The nacelles feature steerable blades beneath which control the direction of flight. Each propeller pair has partial overlap and when not in use they can be folded over each other to further reduce the parking footprint and make packing and transportation easier. With the production of the Malloy Hoverbike, Chris Malloy set up his aeronautical firm Malloy Aeronautics, based at White Waltham airfield, South-West of London, United Kingdom. Colin Peter Furze (born 14 October 1979) is a British YouTube personality, stuntman, inventor, and filmmaker from Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. Aero-X
The Aero-X hoverbike is an aircraft created by Aerofex, an aerospace engineering corporation based in Los Angeles, designed to carry up to two people. It is not known when it will be released for sale. Vehicle Aerofex say that the vehicle rises 10 feet from the ground and can travel at a maximum of 45 miles per hour. It is expected to weigh 785lb and be 15 feet in length. The bike runs for around 75 minutes on a full tank of fuel. The Aero-X does not fly with the same energy efficiency as a helicopter, due to its rotor blades being shorter, but it is much smaller in size and safer near humans. This craft does not produce the brownout of helicopters, as it is designed to be able to operate near people without blowing any significant amount of dust. Hovercar
A hover car is a personal vehicle that flies at a constant altitude of up to few meters (some feet) above the ground and used for personal transportation in the same way a modern automobile is employed. The concept usually appears in science fiction. In science fiction, it is capable of elevating itself some distance from the ground through some repulsion technology, presumably exploiting some short range anti-gravity principle so as to eliminate most friction forces which act against conventional vehicles. Other works feature vehicles that hover by having magnetic plates lined along roads, operating in a similar principle to Maglev.
